feeling guilty about feeling down

Lara,

I recommend that you try the Exposure Planner and Tracker to assess your social phobia.  Let us know if you have any questions.

Keep moving forward!

Hey Silvana

Hope you floated on out of there. My  weekend was great. Have logged on after a break, and rereading what you said about feeling guilty. That's an interesting one. We try so hard to be good and perfect and then beat ourselves up when we're not. Good enough is not good enough, only Perfect will do. Part of my social phobia, I think, stems from my terror at offending people/ doing the wrong thing. I really do resent the energy I have to expend on unpicking it all. And I do waste days and days on this. And then there are people out there who make major mistakes and appear to move blithely on!
Moving on down the Panic Centre programme - hope there's a section that deals with this one

I Lara,
I am glad you're feeling better and that you have a fun weekend planned ahead. I'm also doing something exciting tomorrow that I've never done before, so I don't know what it will be like! I am going to a flotation tank centre with a friend. The people there  claim that floating for an hour is more relaxing than sleeping, meditating and having therapy all together (cross the last one out because that is not very relaxing at all!)

Have a great weekend!

take care

Thanks Silvana and Karen for the encouragement. Silvana, thanks for reminding me that in my other life I do laugh a lot.
I am feeling better today, but am printing out your encouragements to put in a file I am putting together to refer to on days when the panic demon strikes again.
Things are quite a bit better today. One part of my stress was technical problems I was experiencing with the site, but I got my nephew over last night to help reregister me, and hope I'm on my way again. In any event, now the entire extended family knows I belong to a Panic Support Group. Perhaps one fine day I will even meet one of them here...
Well I am off for a Thelma and Louise girls' weekend away up the coast in a few hours. I think there will be laughing. And very little panic.
Thanks for your kindess to a stranger. Your words and support meant a great deal to me in a deserted and lonely day.

Lara,

Take deep breaths and try to challenge those negative thoughts as they are not true!  Reacquaint yourself with our program tools and try completing the activities and worksheets (e.g., the Worry Challenge) and see if it helps you put those cognitive distortions to rest.

Continue to post here with your "panic problems" as we (your members in PC included) are here to support you.   If you are experiencing technical problems with the site, please contact us via feedback.

Hope your day goes better

Hi Lara,

Although I am sure you feel dreadful your letter sounds funny, entertaining and humorous which means you must have a great sense of humour and great resources. Don't listen to that voice anymore, I can hear a different person here!
I had a very bad day yesterday and today I'm full of guilt for having waisted precious time in my life. But I don't want to be too hard on myself and although the feeling keeps coming back I am trying to concentrate on the things I want to do and move on. I hope you'll feel better soon.

take care

Hullo all I am having a really really bad today. Panic panic all the time: it feels like an entire city of panic is lodged in my throat. I feel like crying but I dont' want to show the people around me: my children, my employees, my mother - because I don't want to pull them into this awful situation too. Worst is I feel guilty about having to drag them through all this, and also about wasting precious time in my life on feeling this way. Why is it that everyone else seems to be coping just fine? I feel like I'm going crazy. And at the same time I feel so very angry that this has to happen again and again. It feels like bad weather that just comes in, no matter what I do to try and tackle it. Then it wears me down till I'm almost nothing and moves on again. And then I blame myself: for not coping; for not taking medication (have tried but too many side-effects). I even manage to blame myself for going on line and pestering people on the Panic problem. The voice in my head says: you are useless useless useless.
Have had some technical problems with the programme, and this has been quite frustrating but hope to resolve them soon so that I can continue.
Anyone else out there feel like a complete failure? Hope not.Or maybe I do. Misery loves company.
