Depression & Panic - Which Program Should I Do?

15 years ago 0 12 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Dear Cathie,
do your meds help? I've only been at this a few days, but would gladly take a magic pill if it would work. I'm on Lexapro 10mg and Xanax (as needed about 1 pill three times a week) Thank you for sharing your situation, it helps gals like me a bunch!

Hi Cathie,

I started with the depression programme first and I am now doing the anxiety one.
Although the depression programme took me 12 months (I did it very slowly) I found it easier to follow than this one. But that could just be me, I don't know.
The programme worked really well for me. When I started it my depression was around 80 but since I finished the programme I've never reached those levels again. And when I feel myself going down that road I use the tools I've learned while on the programme. So I can really say that my depression always stays very low and it goes away after a few days, as now I've learned to tackle the problem straight away while before I didn't know what to do and I let it grow till it reached the highest level.
As I said before, I am finding harder to get a grip on anxiety. I am half way through but I have been stuck on the same session for quite a few weeks.

I hope this can help.

take care

Hello Cathie,

Welcome to the forums!

I think Karen gave you great advice.

Although I post in both forums (depression and panic) I only work one program at a time and it is quite enough! I did the panic program first and it helped my anxiety to no end. Then, now, I am doing the depression program and taking my time with it. So I guess you should do whatever is the most pressing first! Hang in there, it does get better.

Cathie,

Welcome to our Panic Center Support Community!  The Panic Program is 12-weeks and involves tools that will help you with your panic issues.  Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead.

Our Depression Program contains similar tools and sessions though depression and panic disorder are both different and similar in various aspects.  CBT (The Depression Program) requires a lot of work and it may be overwhelming to work on both programs at the same time.  Which ever is of more pressing concern to you and your psychiatrist, I would suggest you start off with that one and take advantage of the relevant tools in the other.  Print off your test results and consult with your psychiatrist to hear what he has to say about them.

If you have any questions or concerns with our tools, you can contact us at support@paniccenter.net

Please continue to strive forward and lean on us for support

Hi,

I have depression (scored 71 on Goldberg test) and numerous panic issues (WB-DAT test). I see my psychiatrist once a month and am presently taking:

  1. 150 mg Effexor-XR (depression, panic)
  2. 1200 mg Gabapentin (panic)
  3. 1 mg Clonazepam (panic)
  4. 200 mg Seroquel XR (panic)
  5. 120 mg Cymbalta (depression)
  6. 40 mg Pariet (hiatus hernia)

I have joined the Depression Center and the Panic Center. Should I work in both areas? If yes, how do I go about doing all the work? If not, which center should I work in?

Thank you for your help.
