Hi Everyone...

Glad to hear I'm not alone.  Jen.. I'm mental.. no pun intended most of the time too.  My obsessions are very similiar to yours and when I'm "normal"
I know they are ridiculous but at the time.. they are very real feelings..ugh.  That being said it should be a consolation that I'm now 34 and schizophrenia still hasn't taken over..

Again.. thanks for sharing.

At least I know I'm not alone..

I also do that but mine is all mental related, I think I have schizophrenia, I think I am going crazy, I think I have a brain tumor, I think I will turn pychotic, no matter what I read that has to do with a mental condition I think I do or will eventuallyhave it! lol Sometimes I have to laugh at myself over how rediculous I sound. I had to ask my mom, my sister, my therapist adn my friends all if they think I have schizophrenia, only because I read that a person with it feel anxious! haha Yea So when I am calm and tell myself its only anxiety its almosta relief. I feel you though, I think thats one of our lovely symptoms of anxiety!

Hi Scaredagain! I sooo know what you are talking about .... my problem is reading to much on medical conditions that I hear about .... cause almost all of them relate to some of the same symptoms as a panic attack - and I start thinking that the Dr's overlooked something - that I really do have some bad disease ... mine is usually heart attacked related or stroke ... I watched a medical show the other day about something called a berry aneurysm and the headaches that go along with it and how it is very common to have - but what I was watching the person died from it ... and I could not sleep for 2 nights because I was up thinking about all the headaches that I had been having - and going into full panic attacks thinking about it ....but I have tried to block it out and really have not obessed about it to much latley!! ... but I have had this problem (thinking something was deathly wrong with me) since I was 9 and I am 33 now .. and I can usually tell my self that there is really "nothing" wrong ... but it is so hard sometimes.. just the last few months I have started having anxitey again - and allowed those stupid thoughts back in - not sure why or really what brought it all on again - but I am more than ready for it all to be gone and things be back to "normal" ... so just hang there .... and know that there are others going thru the same thing you are - and we will all overcome this!!! :)

Scared again & Mya, Do be sure to keep working the program. The first few lessons focus on challenging thoughts. This can be a very helpful tool. Danielle, Bilingual Health Educator

Yes!!! I do that all the time...recently my uncle was diagnosed with a heart problem..automatically I looked it up online and noticed it has alot of the symptoms of an anxiety attack....so that must be it..not anxiety..i have been missed diagnosed!!! And it goes on from one thing to another...one of my biggest fears is taking a SSRI..I have paxil here and haven't tried it at all...once i read the suicidal thoughts part and looked online about it ...nope no way...it seems there are so many negatives about that drug..but I also feel desperate to do something that could give me relief quickly!! I start counseling on Thursday so hopefully between that and this I can get through without meds!!

Well, I would like to let you know you are not alone. I sometimes hear about something and become very vigilant about symptoms of it in me and my loved ones! So I get it. That is why I find the thought challenging tools here so great, they helped me with that a lot! Plus, I get the hating the relapse thing. I relapsed in December 2006. That is when I joined this program. This program really helped me get back on my feet. Plus it is still helping me challenge new fear and kep growing as a person. So hang in there! It does get better. -Diva

Thank you both for replying... It seems to be a cycle for me... I see/read/hear about something that someone has and I "get it" or worry about getting it...and that's what my panic is about... Does anyone else have that problem?? It's like I wouldn't have thought that up until I saw it... then it becomes my worry... ugh.. I'm having a hard time with this setback as I was "free" of them or so I thought and I HATE this feeling.... I know I'm a fighter but sometimes this disorder bites!!! Sometimes I just want to be normal...whatever that is...lol... Thanks

Great support everyone. As you can see we are here to assist you in any way we can. Take the time to look through the exposure exercises and discuss it with your doctor. By taking the anxiety test, you can better assess your situation as well. We are always here for support :) Josie, Health Educator
