GENERLIZED ANIXETY

17 years ago 0 34 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Jo, I have the same problems with flying. I am terrified of it. I worry about so many things (I won't add them here as I don't want to give you any ideas!) But I realized that once I'm actually in the situation, my body adapts much better than I ever imagined. I still hate flying, but most of my anxiety is before the flight. Actually, if you stay in a situation for 30 or 40 minutes, I bet you will find your anxiety decreases by at least half. My therapist has been telling me this for the longest time, and its true! Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Jo, Welcome to the Panic Center! Start working through our program. It will educate you about GAD and work with you to help you break your panic cycle. If ever you have any questions, know we are always here to help. In regards to your flight, try visualizing yourself in the airport, then boarding for you flight, on your flight and your arrival. Work towards each scenario gradually. Members, please join me in welcoming our newest addition and offering your advice on this problem. The flight will be a good time to practice breathing exercises. I would be scared too, but if you can figure out a way to relax, you might actually enjoy the flight.

My doctor tell sme that I suffer from GAD Generlized Anixety as I suffer daily often all day, buzzy eyes, slightly dixxy, shakey, weak, tremble, head feels stuffed up, faint (this is my major fear and problem) often go numb for few minutes out of blue and for as long as I can remember I have always coughed constantly which my doctor says is a nervours cough. Does anyone else have this. I also have a problem I am going on a big trip in 5 weeks time and haven't done a long flight for several years and as I am so aware constantly of how I feel (almost looking for it I think) I am terrified of the flight and cannot see past it at the moment I am so scared I am going to go into a panic attack although often I have the symptons and feelings really really bad but does not go into a panic attack (don't know which is worse) and I am really scared as I will be nervous about the flight, I have tried all sorts of help, counselling etc over the years but nothing seems to work, I think I am just natuarally very anxious person (is that possible) this is a really good trip but I keep dreaming about the flight and getting to the door of plane and backing out or even when on plane I am having dreams constantly about it, (What can I do and suggestions)I am going with my Husband and family which helps to a ceratin extent keep thinking I am going to feel so bad that I will faint or die.
