Hopeless

Hello, Jasmine. I've only been on the site for about a week, but already I think it has helped. And although you worry about airing your problems, one of the things I find helpful is that I can see that all those issues and problems I've struggled with for so many years are not uncommon. You suggest that you feel shame for being depressed, or feel selfish, and that you know you suffered from depression long before your formal diagnosis. When I read this, all I can do is nod. Knowing that someone else has experienced guilt and felt selfish helps alleviate those very feelings. I've just started the program and I am fortunate enough to have access to good healthcare and medication, but keeping my activities and mood charts and just learning about depression has already helped me. Keep us up-to-date, and hang in there. Caiman

jasmine, Welcome to The Depression Center. We thank you for sharing your story with us today. This support group is full of supportive individuals who may be able to help you answer some questions regarding Depression. Have you made an appointment to see a doctor? In the meantime please feel free to roam the site at your own pace. If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests. These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physicians advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. This may better help assess the situation. We also have developed a Depression Program. This program is 16-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above. Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead. Many members have advised of the progress made with the program. If you have any questions or concerns with our "TOOLS" you can contact our support department at support@depressioncenter.net. Take care and we hope to hear from you soon. Josie ____________________________________ The Depression Center Support Team.

Hi I am pretty young yet and have been on medications in the past, until I turned 18 and went off of my mom's insurance for the past 3 years I have been trying to deal with this myself, and I though that maybe a support group would be a good idea I don't like to talk to anyone about my depression only my imediate family knows about it. I was diag with severe depression about 3 or 4 years ago. I think that I have had it a lot longer. But never really did anything because I thought I was being selfish in thinking that there was something wrong with me and I still kinda of do. I try and keep a steady job but it is hard for me to stick with one, I have never been without a job. I had an abusive realationship about 2 years ago and had to get a restraining order, which I am still dealing with and it is hard. I was just hoping that maybe there was someone else going through what I am that I would be able to talk to. I just hate to tell people about me becuase I don't think that its right that someone else should worry about my problems because they are mine. Lately it has been getting harder and I really don't know what to do or where to turn. My family is big on religion but I just dont believe in that right now i would really like to have something to believe in but it is hard when you have been let down so much, and my dad moved to fl about 3 years ago, which has not been easy. If anyone can help please do.
