Bleurgh !

Aha, well your sons sound like me when I played baseball.  I hated baseball so much, I only played because my dad forced me...but my sports are anything with water, martial arts and soccer.  Football and basketball too, but ONLY with friends...none of that organized sports bs with those two.  It's all about what they're interested in (but good luck finding that out, I remember how I was).

I get similar sensations in my ear.  Almost like it's throbbing, just inside the ear where you can't see or reach...but you can sure as hell feel it.  I don't have an explanation for this one...maybe it's the techno in you trying to start a rave in your ear with the other chromosomes?  OR, you know how movie stars have music playing during certain parts of their life to signify the feeling at that moment?  It's that!  Your own personal song.  What lyrics would you add to it?

Hope the hospital appt comes back with good results.  And I eat the same as you, well I eat more now but used to have to force myself to eat because I knew I needed it.  Odd, considering I was never bulimic or cared about my weight being over/under...

Did you know?

Dee:  Nope, your right on target.  You also have the same thought about the subject, I just needed to hear others say it...make sure I'm not going loopy with my logic.

You people

Oh, just to add...for those who were like me, thinking "oh, I'm not fighting the good fight, so this probably doesn't pertain to me", or whatever you're thinking to get yourself out of this thank you from me...

I mean you too.  Cheers!

Need some support!!

Hey Charlie,

We'll all say what' wrong time and time again, so thank you for making us feel like we can give back from what we all take from!

I can only give personal advice, and what works for me.  When I'm in a complete stump, where nothing helps and everything seems to get worse, I go into a room by myself, or anywhere where I can be by myself.  Then I meditate.  Sit down, realize we already know the thoughts are making it worse, so sit, and think of nothing.  Every time a worry or even a thought, good or bad, comes to mind, stop, purposely fight back, challenge it.  Instead just let yourself feel whatever your feeling.  As bad as it may be, just let yourself feel it.  Then start the belly breathing, still maintaining the mindset that you will think nothing.  Only let yourself feel, whatever your feeling.  Keep with this until you don't need to fight back the thoughts, and can just feel.  How does your body feel, go into as much detail as possible, "I feel my hand trembling, heart thumping..." whatever details you feel inside.

Once you reach this point where you only feel, think of where you want to be, then let yourself imagine this place.  Remember it's your dream, you don't even need to be talking or anything, you can just picture yourself having fun, relaxing, whatever.  This is where my meditation gets interrupted and everyday life kicks in.  Doesn't solve the problem, but makes things bearable.

Did you know?

Where the Sidewalk Ends and Light in the Attic!  I grew up on Shel Silverstein...which leads me to realize what Miki's old avatar is...I think it was Miki who had it: "The Missing Piece Meets the Big "O"".

Problems with avoidance

I avoided a lot, but also did a lot with very high anxiety.  Depending on what's at stake...for instance when it was Christmas time 2 years ago, there was NO WAY I was going to the family Christmas without buying presents for my niece and nephews.  These were the worst attacks I've ever had to date, had about 10 very severe attacks when I was out at the malls and stores buying presents.  But I refused to let that stop me from getting the presents.  Yup, I'm very hard headed and will jump into a hungry lions den if the presents were dropped in there.  I love my family.

This also is what really made me realize I had a serious problem, and prompted me to try to do something to better myself.....took about a year for my devils to drop and actually do something about it, 'scuse the language.

Regret...now there's a funny issue.  Personally, I regret nothing for long.  What I mean, is that whenever regret hits, I use it to either step up to the plate here and now, or when the next time comes around it makes me step up.  Regret is only meant to be a one night stand.

Perfectionist!

I had the perfectionist attitude.  Particularly when I drew, which is why I stopped because it became meddlesome to get things the exact way I wanted...and nothing was ever the way I wanted it.  OCD has nothing to do with mess, it's about obsessing over one thing...a way of doing it, the way it looks, etc.  I think once I gave up my perfectionist attitude I had severe cases of anxiety, but I think thats because I had less to focus on but myself.  So you might be right, perfectionists have a high possibility of developing anxiety.

What kind of equipment does your band use?  I do vocals for my group, and am a bit of a newbie when it comes to the hardware and software.  Right now we use fruityloops 8 and cakewalk for the beats, and bought a cheap $100 mic and record with melodyne...but I haven't been too happy with the quality.

Oh, and not giving credit seems more like a humble trait.  Personally, the more credit I give myself the more I try to match and beat the quality of the last thing...so I see no wrong as long as you don't neglect yourself entirely.  Just my rambling 2 cents.

Bleurgh !

I think our allergies relate to our anxiety in that when we feel something go wrong in our body, we focus on what it could lead to, what it could be, etc.  But that's just a personal opinion.

From my understanding, thyroid hormones affect every part of the body.  They affect metabolism, growth and development, organ function, puberty, fertility and body temperature (yup, I read it as I typed...gotta love webmd).  Your ear drums may cause the dizziness as well, I know whenever I went swimming and got an ear infection, it would throw off my equilibrium and make me sick.

Bad PA today. Just venting.

Aha, Randy Pausch...I learned about him from aol when he passed.  I meant to check his video out.  To still be able to live to the fullest, especially when you know your end is near...that's a very admirable trait.  I'll have to check out your motivational video...and maybe I should put my own up soon.

Personal success but it sure feels good!

Congrats, Gene!!

I can relate...though I'm not big enough to compete in Iron Man...I would probably fit more in the weenie man section because I have that lightning quick metabolism...but I work out with my buddies from time to time that do what you do.  Getting the high weights up, being able to bench double, even triple your own weight, it's invigorating as all hell!

Out of curiosity, do you use supplements that increase your mass?  I don't mean steroids...but I've heard a lot of the other supplements out there are only good for adding water weight...and after you stop taking them you lose all that weight.  I haven't tried because of that, sticking more to the good old fashioned BIG meals.  You know, I only eat good when I have a work out schedule...
