Hi Jade,
Welcome. I am pretty new at this too. I hope you find it as helpful as I have. It will be tough but not forever. I am already seeing results in the way I think and feel because of all the information on this site. I haven't smoked in 25 days. three weeks ago that seemed impossible to me!!! you can do it.

Maybe I was a go getter who got laid back by addiction and didn't realize it. I spent many years thinking I was in control when in fact I was being controlled by addiction to Nicotine. I was one of those who started because it was the cool thing to do and tryed to quit because it was getting harder and harder to blow off the side effects as sinus, colds ect. Only when I realized that I truly was addicted (after 40+ yrs) did I begin to feel like a looser. Laid back as if not bothered by it only not strong enough to deal with it.
I think addiction is a hard egg to crack no matter which type of personality you are. I also think any type of personality can do it with the right amount of education and instructions.

Hey Kev,
Your rough guide is right on the money. It was worth the 2 1/2 hrs it took to write. I'm sure it helped more than just me. It did help me!!!

Duffis,
Very well said. Before I read this post my idea of rolling with the flow was a song by Merl Haggard."rollin with the flow, goin where the lonely go." My life is a country song.!!
I also hope you don't mind that I copied it to my journal.I need to read it daily for awhile. It is certainly information I should apply to my life. I'm learning more from this site than I ever expected to. I will say thank you for posting.

Hi LuvLambs,
I'm glad you have decided to quit smoking. I smoked alot of years (46) and I too was afraid to try quiting,(this is my third try) I was having so many problems connected to smoking that it was just a matter of getting off cigarettes long enough to start feeling better and breathing better. I'm still new at this but I have enough days behind me to know it is getting better. Anything that makes it easier is wonderful(I tryed Chantix but it made my throat very sore and truth be known I just wasn't ready to quit at the time).
You will find alot of help on this site. It has been wonderful for me. You can do this.I wish you the best.BLUE CLOUD

HI SARA, YOU ARE RIGHT YOU CAN DO THIS. NICOTINE IS VERY ADDICTIVE AND ADDICTIONS ARE HARD TO BREAK BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE.REMEMBER THIS IS YOUR QUIT. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU DO, IT IS YOUR QUIT. BE GOOD TO YOURSELF,TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AND BE PROUD OF EACH HOUR YOU ARE SMOKE FREE. THE HOURS TURN TO DAYS AND DAY TO WEEKS AND THATS AS FAR AS I HAVE GOTTEN.LOL I AM VERY PROTECTIVE OF MY QUIT. ALL THE TRIGGERS I AM AWARE OF ARE LISTED IN A DAILY JOURNAL. I LEARN EVERY DAY FROM THIS SITE AND YOU CAN TOO.

I have been very emotional today. I went to town to have lunch with my daughter and grandkids and wound up crying all through lunch. No matter what I did the tears just kept flowing. I was not expecting this and frankly was not to thrilled for my grand children to watch me melt. For hours I have been tearing up just out of the blue. Is this just my body's way of getting rid of the last signs of nicotine? I have heard the body renews it's self every 28 day cycle.BLUE CLOUD
