Big Time Loser

Hi everybody, Well I slipped and I could kick myself. I'm really angry at the whole situation. I don't know what I can do to get a grip on it. I think I'm ready to quit so what's the problem? What happened yesterday a friend of mine came over and she smokes. I should have said something but I didn't and it triggered me big time. I don't think my friend will be over for quite a long time now so I'm in the clear for a while. I think I'm going to tell her not to smoke in my apartment. I just hope she'll understand. I was amazed at how much she smoked...she had 4 cigarettes in an hour. I'm back on the patch and giving it my best...I'm setting my mind to it. I just have to be careful and watchout for H.A.L.T. ... not to be hungry, angry, lonely or tired. Anybody else starting at the same time as me? Maybe we can do it together. I know I have to get over my anger because I'll just relapse. So I'm working on it now and feeling a bit better. I feel a lot better since I posted. Thanks guys. Big Time Loser

Thanks a whole bunch guys...My first day and I'm doing all right. I think my past quits and slips helped me in the experience of quitting again. I'm really struggling right now with my arm...it's in a sling and it makes it hard to do anything. Can't wear my winter jacket properly and it's pretty cold outside. But not enough excuse to start smoking again. I can't let stresses in my life trigger slips and slip again. I'm going to call my friend Betty later on tonight...she quit for 20 years now and use to smoke 3 packs a day...really. She's also an inspiration for me and I don't want to let her down again. She's worked hard to keep me clean and I want to stay clean this time. I don't want to be a disappointment for you guys either. You've been here for me and I really appreciate it. Will talk to you later...take care all. Boring

Poor Bear, I know what you're going through. Right now I don't have an appetite and things don't mean anything to me in the taste department. But I'm sure it will pass as it will for you. Just eat though whatever you do. Looking Forward to Day 2

Well, I'm passed another craving. Went to a meeting tonight and it helped me not think of smoking. I'm looking forward to tomorrow and not having smoked. I feel pretty up right now and I hope it keeps up. Looking Forward to Day 2

Hi Doodles Thanks for the encouragement. I read Allan Carr's How to Stop Smoking and it helped me only for a little time. I think I wasn't ready then to quit...that's why. I'll reread it again when I get a copy of it. I lent it to a friend of mine and haven't gotten it back. I'm still feeling pretty good and I think I'll sleep good tonight. I just hope I don't dream like I have been. A lot of dreams I find myself smoking. I guess subconsciously I'm thinking about it when I fall asleep. Talk to you all tomorrow. Voids

Stickin To It, I have a lot of down time and I try to spend it on the computer posting and the like. I do cross-word puzzles which seem to help an awful lot and go out to the coffee shop and spend time with friends there. I'm trying everything that I can think of to fill the void. Way to go Doodles...there's nothing wrong with being lazy not getting a pack of cigs. Good reason for it. Delaying I guess does make a difference. i need help

Hi Kathleen I just started my quit again and I'm using the patch. I had gone 10 days without smoking on the patch and then I quit using it and I fell off the wagon. You do get cravings even when you're using an NRT. I still get cravings on the patch but they go away in a short time. It comes in waves and you just have to ride them out. You can do it. Good for you to want to quit smoking. That's the first important step. Keep up the good work and get rid of the cigarettes you do have lying around. It just prolongs the agony and triggers you to want to smoke. Keep in touch.
