Hi everyone

Thanks for the acknowledgement. I really appreciate it. I just started taking the herbal laxative so it will take time to work I'm sure. I'm also eating fruit which should help. This is my 3rd day now and things aren't too bad. I do want a cigarette but not enough to go to the store and buy some. Maybe I'm over the worse...who knows. Hanging in There

I'm on my 3rd day now and things are going not too bad. I know though that the cravings will increase with time and the day isn't over yet. Jaqui, don't give up...I've been told by dozens of people that it gets easier as time goes on. I think I'll do all right now, just got that feeling. I didn't have it before, always had doubts about being successful. My mindset is different now. I don't know why it's different, it just is. I did have cravings today but they weren't too bad. I guess being on the patch does make a difference. I tried chantix but all it did is make me lethargic and sleepy day in and night out and I didn't quit on that. I'm hoping the patch will do the trick. At least, I'm alert now which is better than before. Reading the posts has helped me tremendously and I intend on staying in touch with everybody. Thanks again. Help!

I'm going through a terrible craving right now and it won't shake off. All I can think about is buying a pack of smokes and feeding my addiction. I knew feeling well wasn't going to last. I hope the craving goes away. It's a struggle right now and I don't know if I can do it. I'm going to drink water and try to think of something else. I think I'm going to phone my friend. She's been helping me an awful lot lately. Anyway, I'm besides myself. Help!

Thanks all of you for your support. I didn't cave in. Still hanging in there. The cravings aren't as bad as before but they're still there. You say it's related anxiety. I'm not sure I understand. I'm manic depressive and I wonder if it's harder for somebody with a mental illness to quit. I do experience anxiety often and I'm taking something for it and it's tolerable. This was my 4th day and it was terrible. I thought the cravings would subside somewhat. I guess not for me. I'm going to go to bed smoke free again today and I feel good about that. Thanks again for your support. Help!

It's Sunday morning and on my 5th day. I had a terrible craving this morning when I got up and was thinking again of getting a pack of smokes but didn't do it. I'm fighting the beast tooth and nail. I read junkie thinking and it's great. It helped me an awful lot. Went over to my supportive friend's place and had supper with her. That helped me a great deal too. Then I went to my GA meeting and of all things this guy at the meeting wanted to sell his pack of cigarettes because they weren't his kind. I refused to buy it and I feel pretty good about that. I don't have too much to do today and I don't know how that's going to affect me. I'm going to try to go over to my friend Betty this afternoon and spend time with her. So far I'm hanging in there. DAY 5 AND STOMACH PAIN

Hi Sandy The only symptom I had was an emptiness in the stomach but no pains. I'm sure an expert will be able to tell you. Hang in there. Day 5

Hello everybody. I'm hanging in there...no smokes. Went to my friend's place for some positive feedback. She's awesome. I don't know what I'd do without her or you guys. I'm having a bit of a craving but it's tolerable so far. I have to keep reminding myself that I'll have ups and downs and to try to cope when the downs hit. I'm going to a meeting tonight and they have a smoke break, but I won't be going outside with them. I'll probably smell them when they come in from the outside. It's not a pleasant smell to say the least. My brother got a hold of me which is great. I'm relieved that he's contacted me at last. I was wondering if there was something wrong with him not getting a hold of me for over 2 months. That was playing on my mind too and triggering the cravings. Now, one less trigger which is great. Hang in there everybody the week-end is almost over. I understand it's full moon and that could explain why so many are having cravings. I understand the full moon affects emotions and births. Hope to hear from you all soon. Day 6

Well I'm heading towards a week now and I feel pretty good. The cravings aren't so bad...a bit more manageable. Going out later and hope it will get my mind off smoking. That's all I've been doing is thinking about smoking...is that normal? It's very irritating to say the least. Hope you all have a smoke-free day and take care.
