Leaving the house

You are making progress.  You were able to go to your sons graduation and found out you would not pass out. I am glad to hear it went OK.  You should be proud of yourself and your son on this wonderful day.  It good to hear you are going to quit smoking on Monday.  Maybe you will get so rest then..... Well I have go to sign off now.  I have some exposure work I need to do today and can't get it done if I am online all day.  Its Out of the house for me and off to do some walking or swimming.   Good luck Monday with your quit and Wednesday with your Dr. visit.

I have been trying your advice about having a apple before a meal so that I will eat less.  It really works if I have a apple before a meal it pretty much fills me up and cuts down on what I eat at any meal.  It makes it impossible to over eat.
 
Drinking lots of water also help me not to over eat.  I read that sometimes we have false hunger and what we really need is to drink water.  Samantha has a post about drinking water that talks about this I think.

Back on Track

Today I went to a swimming exercise class at the YWCA.  It has taken me almost 5 months to get back on track.  I started going back to my water exercise in Jan of this year when I was called to jury duty.  Jury duty was all I could think about and the anxiety/panic was high.  I got thought the jury duty with the help of this program but couldn't get myself to go to my exercise class again till now.  I worked on this program and kept challenging my anxious and negative thoughts and would not give up.
Today I was able to leave my house and go to my swimming class.  I was a little afraid about being in the class and you know what, it was just fine.  I had a good time in the class and stayed after to do some laps and got to know some of the ladies in the class.  We all talked and laughed and I was very comfortable.  It just goes to show that most of the anxious and negative thoughts that I have are not valid and things can and do turn out good and happy and positive.  One more negative thought replaced with a positive thought and experience.  One of the things I learned in the depression center before I came here to this site was just because you think something will not be fun and that you will not be able to handle it or you not like it, may not be true.  You will never know until you leave your house and go out and try it.  You just might like.  I have learned a lot from the programs here.  They have enriched my life and made it so much better.  You really can get better. You never quit learning. Life is a journey.  I hope my story inspires you to work hard on the program and never give up on yourself.

It's good to hear from you.  How have you been doing?  It is also good to hear that you are dreaming of the future and the things you would like to accomplish and that it brings you happiness. This is so very positive.  A perfect example of replacing the negative thoughts with positive ones. This is real progress.  I liked reading your post this morning.  What are some of your dreams for the future?

Great work at challenging your anxious and negative thoughts and getting on the elevator. You are making progress and moving forward.  You turned a negative into a positive.  This takes courage.  You should be proud and reward yourself in some way.  Hot bath or shower/ new magazine etc. etc. you get he idea. Something that  makes you feel good.

mammakim,    I am glad you had a good night. It sounds like things are starting to settle down for you for the night. My son is 39 so I have not had to deal with teenagers for a long time now.  I have not forgotten how trying it can be though.  As for the stairs I wouldn't make it up 3 flights either.  I am just staring to exercise since I quit smoking.  I over did it yesterday in the pool with the aerobic class.  My spine can't take all the jumping up and down.  I have osteoarthritis in my spine and had a back surgery 21 years ago.  To many years of physical labor.  Thank God I am retired now.  I couldn't exercise today I was in to much pain.  I will be doing my own work out in the pool from now on.  I learned it from the Arthritis foundation it is totally non impact that means no jumping up and down of any kind.  Anyway I have to sign off for now and rest.  Have a good night.

A gallery of your own sounds wonderful and  traveling the seas on your own ship would be grant.  As for me I would like to have 10 acres of my own with a nice house not to big, a barn or shop and lots of shade trees and birds and wild life.  Natural walking trails would be nice, I would also like to have a small lap pool to exercise in, a hot tub and a dry sauna.  Most of all I would like to have so much space that I could look out across the horizon and not be able to see a single house or person for as far a I could see.  This is my dream one that I think about often.

anerol,  I remember you talking before about some guests that might be coming to visit.  I am so sorry that this rude and controlling woman is making you unhappy.  I am sorry she has stirred things up with your family and is making your living situation uncomfortable. I can see how you would want to move out and how it would be scary.  I think it would be great if you could move out if you want to,  in the same token I would not do anything impulsive or rash just yet.  I think it is good that you are searching for a apartment so that you can leave in the future when you think you are ready.  When will these guests be leaving?  Can you hold out till then, when you have time to really plan a move and are not being rushed or feel you are being pushed into moving?  I am sorry you are having to go through all this.  I wish I could be there to help you.  Just remember they will be gone eventually, there is plenty of time to plan a well thought out escape later.
