Panic Attack/blood pressure phobia

Hi, I know this thread is six or seven years old, but I just found it today and it is so relevant to my life. For example, today I did blood pressure reading and the systolic was high. However, I knew that I felt so much anxiety (apparently some people are calling it Blood Pressure Phobia). I saw that the number wasn't so crazy I'd have to rush to an ER, so I rested three minutes, took another reading and repeated. My next two readings were great.

Anyway, this is only one way my anxiety interferes with my daily life. I am so glad I found this forum and this thread.

Hello--New here!

I just joined this group. I actually saw a thread that was started back in 2011 about blood pressure and anxiety. I definitely have cuff anxiety or Blood Pressure Phobia (I'm being treated by a doctor for hypertension and she doesn't always seem to understand my anxiety and how it effects my BP). I was bullied in school and was abused (verbally and physically). I avoid situations that I think will trigger me and have difficulty talking to new people, found dating to be a nightmare and have had very inappropriate outbursts of emotion over situations. People have treated me like I'm defective or broken because of these outbursts.

I find that journaling helps. I don't personally like meditation/mindfulness stuff, but that is just me. I will say that I was on a forum not long ago and broke some rules by accident. I told someone, "Gee, I'd like more information about that" and was accused of asking others to do research for me. Uh, saying I'd like to know more about a topic doesn't constitute asking someone to research something. I didn't realize I was doing anything wrong and the administrators sent me private messages telling me I was in violation and gave me warnings. I never meant to do anything wrong. So, please be patient with me. A gentle reminder of any rule I might break will suffice with me. "Just to let you know that you broke rule #2 ... please don't" will be enough. Thanks for reading and I hope this is a good place for me.
