"Wish Me Luck"!!!

A big hello (from Oz - Downunder) out there in the Universe to my fellow AHC support friends & educators.
Today I have made a pledge & commitment to quit drinking and it's daily hold on me that I have experienced for far too many years now and it's well and truely time (woke up this morning feeling horrible yet again!) I did something about it, hence signing up with Alcohol Help Center just this morning, taking some toolbox help surveys and making notes into my (hardcopy) diary to help me through today...... & everyday, so fingers crossed, here begins the first day towards my wonderful new life!! Yay!!   Talk soon xxx

"Wish Me Luck"!!!

Hi Sian and thank you so much for taking the time to write to me together with your well wishes.  Yes feeling great on day 2 (!!), managed to cut my drinking last night to 5 1/2 glasses of wine, down from my usual 10 plus !!!  Had a terrific nights, non drunk sleep!!!  It's wonderful to feel the difference in the morning.  I'm so glad to have found this website, the surveys, tips and pointers are great, I wrote several into my diary on my first day and stuck by at least a couple of them last night including drinking slowly, as well as actually counting (for a change!) the number of drinks I was having then posting this number into the online diary insothat I can keep an accurate track of my progress.  Yes, the support here is very real and I'm so pleased to have found AHC to support me in my quest to quit altogether, I'm working on it!!!!  Elley xxx P.s. How are you travelling in this journey?

"Wish Me Luck"!!!

Hi Misha and thanks so much for taking the time to reply to me and for your well
wishes.  Like you, this week begins a whole new week in my life of cutting
back & hopefully stopping my "love affair" with alcohol that I have had for
far too many years now and needs to stop.  It's great to have someone else who is new
like you, write and offer their support, maybe we could hold eachother's hand
through this experience/journey!!!  The AHC website is a great tool,
especially in examing in real terms just how much an individuals we actually
consume, spend, and the effects on our health, my results were quite
shocking!!!!  On my first night since joining, I was able to cut down
to 5 - half glasses of wine, down from my usual 10+.  I also last night
started counting & therefore being accountable (setting limitations)
for how many wines I was actually having and posting this to my
online diary, this will help me keep check of my drinking patterns &
avoiding guzzling one glass after another.  As a result, I had a
terrific nights sleep and woke up feeling clear headed - YAY!!
I plan to start utilising drink spacers - drinking my other
favourite (non alcohol) drink in between each glass of alcohol.
What are your tools of choice that you utilise to assist you???   Looking forward to reading your posts also, and thanks again for your support.  Sooo looking forward to living a healthy, clear-headed life with a little help from my AHC friends!!!  Elley xxx

Wellbeing verses worrisome.

Hi David, I wanted to write to say how great (worrying less) must be for you and that this too is a feeling I look forward to experiencing more of in the future.  It's funny you know as I would personally probably not have linked the two together, e.g, heavy drinking causing so much anxiety & concern within our lives in this manner, however reading your post just now has been somewhat of an ah-hah moment for me.   Admittantly I am two days brand new to this program & although the road may be long, it's the journey that counts.  Keep enjoying your new found clarity and congratulations on achieving 3mths sobriety.
