Managing Anxiety

13 years ago 0 17 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Certainly when I was at my worst a few months ago, I experienced a lot of agitation and over arousal and nervousness I couldn't face answering the phone if it rang for example.
I am geting better. Certainly mindful breathing and meditation helps, along with the pills.

Hi Stacy,

If you haven't already, I would strongly recommend checking out our sister site paniccenter.net. There you will find out how to cope with anxiety. There are also lots of relaxation techniques such as box breathing, muscle relaxation...etc
Sign up for the panic center and you will have access to the wonderful toolbox. There are several people who are members of both sites.

Members, how do you overcome moments of anxiety? What relaxation techniques from the program have you used?

I know we all go through different things, but I find that anxiety for me is one of the biggest issues that I am contending with. I am attempting to practice box breathing and other like things, but I have moments that nothing I am doing helps.

Recently in the grocery store the anxiety it was so overpowering, I could not breath, I was trapped and terrified, I HAD to get out and get out now.   Even leaving my cart behind and getting to my vehicle was not enough I had to lock myself in.   It took me a good 10 minutes (which felt like 3 hrs) to get my breathing and tears under control.   I hate that this comes from nowhere, but I am working on it...

Members,

Along with the classic symptoms of depression (sadness, feelings of guilt, suicidal thoughts…) most people with depression also have significant anxiety symptoms. Although we tend to think of depression as being a condition of low arousal, slowing down or even hibernation, depression is often associated with high arousal, speeding up and agitation.

On the other hand, people with anxiety disorders commonly experience many of the symptoms associated with depression.

Are you experiencing both sets of symptoms? Are you having trouble managing your symptoms?
