I seem to be thinking a lot lately in terms of analogies.
An analogy that comes to mind when thinking about burnout is the hairdryers - at least the ones I have - they literally burn out if they are on high for more than a few minutes. They are not broken, the only solution is to let them cool down. Which they do naturally if you just put them down. THen they work again in a few minutes once they are cool enough. This is very simplistic but at least one aspect of burnout is that someone is 'burnt out' and rest can restore us.
This is a hard time of year to find rest but I think it can be done.
For me because I am very stressed out right now mentally and emotionally, CBT can help with the negative core beliefs I have that rest is for the wicked.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. Translated means a treatment for improper thoughts. If the reason for burn out is mental it can work. If it is physical then not but it can help with dealing with the depression that comes from fatigue. The flip side of the coin is that mental fatigue can cause physical fatigue in which case CBT can work.
