Good morning Debora.

I was hoping you would be here telling us something wonderful that is happening to you. Even something like no panic again today, or maybe just not too much. Something small and simple like how good your coffee was this morning. Is the sun shining. Do you have a pet? Anything positive no matter how small.

Hi everyone,

So much great input and advice on this thread.

Deborah, you are right about exercising patience and accepting that it will take time to heal.  Especially since you have not been feeling like yourself for quite some time.
Some great tips that were mentioned by other members are working through the 'toolbox' on the depression center, and writing a positive thought - even the tiniest as Davit said - daily to store in your memory.
Have you gone for a walk recently?  Moving your body and getting outdoors is so effective to boost your mood.  How is your diet?  There is a strong connection between food and mood!  Be sure to include fresh fruits & vegetables in your diet - fish and nuts (like walnuts and almonds) are particularly good for mental health.
This Thanksgiving weekend, make it a priority to record at least one positive experience or something you are thankful for each day.  Share it with us if you would like.

Debora.

I'll explain the negative/positive part that is important to you.  Negative thoughts (whether they come from your own thought or some ones actions) cause negative reactions which effects the action that caused them. But worse is the fact that negative thought cause negative reactions which get stored in your memory and create more negative thoughts every time an action passes through your memory looking for how to react. Even the tiniest positive thought can cause a positive reaction and get stored in your memory so that the next time an action goes through memory looking for a way to react it now has a choice and if you ignore the negative and grasp the positive you will have a positive reaction which will reinforce the positive you have already built in your memory. It is a circle building on past experiences so negative thought will get worse, positive will get better. That simple.
Every time something negative happens, don't go there. Put it on the shelf to deal with later when you have enough positive attitude to deal with it. Ignore the negative people, ignore the things you can not do anything about. Love your husband and son just the way they are and don't think about things you can't change. Change the things you can, like how you feel and think. Think happy and you can be happy, even if like me some days you are so sick you want to die. And if you have a bad day use it to compare how good it could have been not how it is. We all have bad days, that is just a fact of life for people with our condition. We would all be in a bad way if we let ourselves.

Hi Hugs, I was writing while you posted so I just saw you're post. I hope you're tummy feels better, how I know that feeling! I have had days of that too, upper AND lower, burning churning pain and nausea, I am glad you saw the Doctor and I know it will turn out alright! Please let me know what the Doc said. I am praying for you, and know you will be fine. Thanks for saying not everyone is all bad, I dont feel bad just weak and sad  right now and hoping in the days too come to be better.

I did not mean to ramble on my last post, I am sorry. I guess my question is "how do you think positive when everyone around you is so negative and down on you" "how do you feel good about yourself when people keep telling you how weak and bad you are?" There are some things I have to accept in life I know, I have a special-needs son and a unhealthy husband who works a job thats so hard on him, that probably sounds negative but that is reality, I have to accept those two things because I cannot change them, perhaps its a blessing in disguise noone calls me or comes over because till I get better there scary negative comments really weigh me down and hinder my recovery, just trying to push them OUT of my head!!

I think once I get a handle on the body symptoms and the negatiave thinking I can get better and I am hoping and praying the agorophobia and depression will go away too like the panic's seemed to has lessened? Did anyone ever have their attacks lessen but still feel depressed agorophobic and physcially sick? Does it just take more time? I have wasted so much time already, I want to get better quick but I dont think that is going to happen, patience and time I will try to remember that.

Debora,
You are doing by the way you can reason, from my priviledged perspective.

On the other hand, not everyone can be "all" bad, since that kind of thinking(all or nothing) is too convenient.

We are your support group, for now.  Even the posts aren't all good, and we're being viewed by many including professionals with various backgrounds.

That "panic cycle" is tricky though.  I've recently had 13 of 18 days of stomach aches, and finally decided to see the doc, while I feared the worst.  I won't get results for a long time, but the relief is "priceless"

Hi Everyone,

I am trying not to dwell on the headaches too much Sunny, my tummy still does not feel great but the headaches have been worse, I have been reading a lot so that may have something to do with it, I never really got headaches because of my anxiety through. I will read those negative postive thoughts you mentioned JDoe I have been reading the program quite a bit.

I am so happy I have not had full blown panic in about a week, but I always feel like its "lurking" and it comes so close, and Davit is right its the negative thinking that is my downfall and then the bodily symptoms, the symptoms bring on my panic.

I am trying so hard Davit to think positive, I guess I vented and complained too much, I am sorry, I should of wrote my progress too, even through its very little, I have to think positive too, hard through when the symptoms get very severe.

I think Davit is that there has been so much negativity around me for close to a year now its probably rubbed off bad, does that make sense? people have pretty much walked away from me, and I am not even really mad at them, I understand they do NOT have the disorder and cannot understand, I never wanted them to enable me or baby me or pity me, just to understand and have patience with me, the comments from people have been harsh even my own husband has said, "you are never going to get better" and my sister comments "its been nine months deb and you're getting worse" my friend saying "you're praying wrong" and my neigbors physcial therapist saying "if she is taking anti-anxiety meds and seeing a therapist there should of been SOME improvement" and even my own nurse-practioner sayer "you're a wreck, a absolute wreck'!!

These comments are not only negative but they are so unhelpful and downright scary, I always lived by thinking "if its not helpful and its hurtful and scary don't say it!" I wish I had more of a support system in my life but I dont and I have to accept that, other than this site and my Aunt, its really just me. I have lost a lot due to this disorder, my family, my friends, the phone never rings anymore and people's solution too this is just to "walk away" basically, I try not to blame them its hard for them to see me like this. I do try to think positive, even through the body symptoms and "foggy feelings" I guess its going to take me a little more time than most to get better, maybe I am trying to rush it, one thing I know I MUST do is think more positive, try to forget how unhealthy and sick I feel, and think about other things, I so love life and people and I want to join them again, I try to pamper myself Sunny I do, like you said I am a little better and I wont go back, that helped, thank you.

Hi Debora,

You might want to take a look at the thread titled Negative and Positive its under the Heath Educators corner and read the posts I wrote there..These are things that I have been working on doing that help me..May be they will help you too..Doesn't hurt to look..Also the depression center has a excellent written program..I read there also..There are not many people in the support group but that doesn't matter really because you can read the sessions and the information is what you really need and then you can get started on working the program. Just like you do here...There are not many in this support group either but that does not mean you can't work the program..Reading and working the programs is what will get you there..and then you can always come here or go there and post your Accomplishments and other positive things that you are doing to get well which will reinforce the positive. Remember every little step counts and will help you to get better..Also don't forget to reward your self for the progress you are making..
