Davit,
How did you come to that conclusion?

The sad thing is that some of these people had no support or CBT. Now that makes me sad.

Vincenza,
Sport isn't creative, but it was the inspiration for my beginning the thread.  Those athletes are gifted and I look up to them since they can do what I could only dream of doing.  I was hoping some others would share their celebrity role models and something personal about themselves, since this is a support group.

I'm just trying to get through the day in one piece, and knowing there are people in other careers with similar struggles makes me feel supported.

Why should celebrities be any different from us except that they can afford retreats and therapy and pills. I would say be glad you are not one. You might have to work at this but it will work for you instead of just being able to hide from it. The psych ward was like a retreat, I got to rest but it cured nothing. Some of those celebrities, it is self inflicted. Late nights, booze and drugs. They don't need a cure they can coast through life but look what happens to them when the coasting doesn't work any more. I may like their music and movies but I sure would not want their life. But I might want their money :-) Yeah life would be easier with their money.

Here for you,
Davit.

Does anybody know of role models who  are in the media?   Speaking of public figures allows others to be inspired, who would otherwise not realize that even gifted people struggle, contrary to the images that are marketed.

Ricky Williams was a great NFL football player who struggled with social anxiety.  This is difficult for athletes who are tested in a violent game, which they've prepared for their whole lives, and can only compete for a short career.

Another person did an interview on Canadian radio about six weeks ago, where she described her struggle.  She played hockey as a goaltender nationally, and had to leave hockey for a while. Her courage in revealing her illness was inspiring.  I can't remember her name, but I remember being moved by her vulnerability, since I was going through the motions in the weight room at my gym.  She really lifted my spirits!
