Has anyone heard from Lissa lately?  It's been a year and I haven't seen any other posts. I just joined today, and am going through the introductions to familiarize myself with others on this site and to help me realize that Im not alone and that this can work if I allow it to and put the effort into it.  Hope to hear from Lissa and how shes doing.

Hi Lissa,

Welcome to the site.

I read your initial post. Lying is sometimes something we learn to do to cope with situations that are not escapable. Just an observation  based on what i've read about anxiety and other learned behaviours.

Try not to focus too much on how you will reveal things to your parents etc.. that you worry about revealing. CBT works and it helps you to feel differently after you work through the program here. You won't always feel the way you do right now.

Thanks for sharing your success story, Juanita!! I'm proud of you and happy that the program has been helpful to you.

Lissa, how are you doing these days? How is the program coming along so far? What are you finding that is the most helpful?

Hahaha, I love that imagery- "Demons dropping like flies". Congradulations, Juanita. Myself, I have an uncle who is a salon owner, so I daren't even try to go to a salon- he cuts family hair at his home, not his salon. He probably wouldn't disown me if I found someone else, but he has a very effective way of  looking at family haircuts he didn't do. It's a smiliar look that a person might give cockroach, lol.

Hi Juanita:  Congratulations on your progress with negative core beliefs - a new haircut too.  Now, you have to put that pic up for us to see. lol  I bet the cut is cute, maybe you aren't used to it yet.

Hi Lissa,
Welcome...please be yourself here...   that's what this place is for. I know its hard at first, but its so helpul in our recovery...my thoughts anyhow.I know what lieing to cover anxiety is all about.I used to be the queen
of excuses....but not anymore since doing this program.
I have a little success story to share... its kind of ironic.
Yesterday after getting rid of that BP machine I went to hair salon and got my hair cut....here's the thing...I haven't had my hair done in many years, cause I had a phobia about the chairs/black cape ...agoraphobia....anyhow...the excuse always was..."they never do a good job...I never like my haircut"...when the truth was that I was scared of having a panic attack so I advoided them.
Yesterday was a breeze...I actually enjoyed it!Didn't mind getting spun a round a bit in the chair, the cape didnt bother me...but you guessed it....I got  terible haircut! hahaha..all sorts of spikey stuff...but I couldn't care less..its not about the haircut...it was about the exposure.I'm wearing it with pride because it means I can do it!! You will see how amazing the things you will learn here are....stick around and let us be here for you.

Hi LissaM,

Welcome to the forums and thanks for posting!  We are glad to have you.

You want to make a big transition , and to you that means being honest with others and yourself. It may feel like its the end of the world, but please know that its not. It's the beggining of a healing process, and that in itself can be very frightening if you don't have coping mechanisms. The program is a great tool, and I encourage you to start using it as soon as possible. In each section, you'll find information and tools to help you cope with the anxiety.

I also encourage you to visit your family doctor. Its important to be able to identify physical or biological reasons why you may be experience ulcers, loss in concentration/memory and fatigue. Also these can be symptoms of anxiety, they may also be caused by something else.

Be kind and gentle with yourself. Say nice things to yourself and use positive self talk.  If you can be honest with your family, or with someone you can trust.

We are here to listen and support you in this journey!

Hello Lissa,

Welcome to program and support group. This is a safe place to come for support and be yourself. You will not have to pretend like everything is ok while you are here. People will not judge you and will accept you the way you are.  We all try to help each other here.  We understand what it is like to have anxiety and fear and how hard it can be to let you guard down and ask for help and be yourself.  I came to a point in my life where I just couldn't fake it anymore and luckily I found this program and support group. This program will help you learn to accept and understand yourself better and in the end your will feel much better about who you are and you will not have to pretend anymore...
I know it takes a lot of courage to come here and post your feeling this is not a easy thing to do. I am glad you found us and I look forward to hearing more from you...

Hi Lissa:  Welcome.  I agree with Davit.  Don't be afraid to be your honest true self here.  How else are you going to get better?  I know it is difficult to "let it all out" as I myself have a bit of a struggle with it too.  When you've lived years of denial or sweeping things under the carpet, it's a little scary to write about it to strangers.  I was brought up with the idea that you don't tell anyone your problems.  I went to school pretending everything was o.k.
