WQ,
Welcome to our wonderful support community!
Difficulty breathing and rapid heart beat are common panic attack symptoms. Have you tried relaxation techniques before bed and as soon as you open your eyes? Something like deep breathing could be helpful to you. Getting into the calmest state before bed may keep your anxiety from rebounding in the morning. It may take a few tries before yourbody gets into the habit of being calm. Be sure to also use the program. Session 2 and 3 will teach you to recognize and challenge your thoughts.
How long have you been on your anxiety medications? In general, most medications take time to build a therapeutic level in your system and as it does, the effect it produces becomes more pronounced and stable. Perhaps you can speak with your doctor about changing the dosage or medication if you have not been experiencing any benefits for awhile.
Hope that helps.
