Hiya Flo,

Just stopping in to echo the others and say I am sorry you had such a crummy experience. Also, I wasn<t offended by the title either.

Thanks all for the support. I hope I didn't offend anyone with the title. I think it was in poor taste. Although at the time it made me laugh at the whole experience. Please forgive me, Therapist are very special people, they listen to all our complaints and troubles, and need to be strong so not to absorb any negativity.
Sincerely,
Florence

Unfortunately, they deleted the link that I tried to give you.
But if any of you would like it, I'd be happy to send it to you via the instanst message thing on here, or to your e-mail.
I would post it again 'sneakily' but I got an e-mail saying it was against the rules to post links. haha

Florence,   Try not to get too discouraged. This just means that this Dr. wasn't the right one for you.  Keep looking and find someone that you feel comfortable with.   In the mean time, continue working through the program and posting here with us.     Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator

In my opinion, that is absolutely rediculous.  This sounds like the worst therapist ever, especially if shes suppose to specialize in agrophobia.  The ONLY thing she did was make you feel small and made you think something was wrong with you for not being able to come into her office.  I would complain to my insurance company and have them get that $130 back. By the sounds of this, its close enough to a scam.
I am so very sorry you had such a bad experience.
When I first started considering therapy, I was always thinking of in-home sessions...but I am still able to go out of the house and do things, albeit they are hard.
I'm honestly still in awe about your story.
I hope you can find someone that actually knows what they are doing and doesn't waste your time.
Please keep us updated with this, and I hope that you start making progress soon...just baby steps are needed.
My anxiety worsened about 9 months ago, and within the last few months, I am finally starting to see progress. This is how I found my therapist. You can search all of the therapists/psychologists in your area...but also see a picture of them, and a brief description, as well as a map...etc..etc.
just can just type in your zip code and then where it says "Show me: Insurance Info | Group Therapy | more..." Click on MORE.
Then you can specify the specialty you need.
This is how I found my therapist...I e-mailed about 5 of them, and this one seemed to care the most...even met me outside to walk me in the first few times.
Hope this helps you!

Flo,

Sorry to hear of your difficulties with this new therapist.  I guess you can be grateful that they were willing to come to your locale, though less sensitive to the fact that you needed concrete techniques to assist you.  I hear that the experience left you disheartened but am very glad you had the wherewithall to post your experience to the forum.  Pain shared is pain halved.

I actually submitted a formal letter of complaint about one psychiatrist that I had seen though I hope nothing much comes of it, that would be anxiety inducing, but I felt it was necessary to help me diminish the animosity that I was beholding against this practitioner to have their actions formally questioned.

We will all be cheering for you to find another suitable therapist and that they will move you towards an office visit in a more compassionate way.
