Headlines from the Smoke Free World!

I live in Florida, but I can't help but feel that this is another form of discrimination. OK, we all made the decision to start smoking, but it no longer was a choice for most of us as it became an addiction. Wouldn't it be more fair, if someone is qualified for a certain position, to give this person the option to quit with the aid of the county?

Members,

On May 20, Sarasota County officials announced they would no longer be hiring smokers. Sarasota County the first county in Southwest Florida to make smoking a hiring issue.

In Florida, the right not to hire employees who smoke was upheld by a 1995 ruling of the state Supreme Court.

What do you think about this initiative to keep America smoke free?
