Cat Way to go, Cat! But, I had no doubt. Something that has worked for me in those situations is self talk, e.g., "Sure, that looks and smells familiar, because I used to be a smoker. But now I don't smoke any more, so I guess I'll do something else. Those poor people, still addicted and hurting themselves. Glad I don't do that any more." Stuff like that. Once you've faced it a few more times it won't bother you, either as much, or at all. Done it! :) The first day is off!! ;) Been running away all the day from all the smokers in my work. But it has been ok! :) I'll have to workout that part of beeing near smokers but as many people here have said: baby steps at a time! ;) Thanks!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/6/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 49 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 980 Amount Saved: 147.00 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 14 Mins: 2 Seconds: 42

lololol!! EHEHEH!! You made me laugh! Yes this year my vacations were amazing! ;) no work during summer wich means 2 mouths of vacation when I was supposed to have only one! ;) But for breaktime... 30 minutes in the morning! ;) In the afternoon... As long as I want since it is time for individual work! So it deppends for how long I'm practising the flute! :) So... I'm taking my book with me since I don't know how to needlepoint and I can imagine my militaire colleagues joking on me doing that! ;) Unfortunately I can't go out for a walk during my breakout. That's one of the bad rules in there! I'll do it in my lunch time to free myself from the stress! ;) thanks again, Cat My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/6/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 48 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 960 Amount Saved: 144.00 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 12 Mins: 36 Seconds: 59

Cat I don't know if your break time is long like your vacations ;) , but if it is long you could also take along some type of handiwork, like embroidery, needlepoint, crocheting, etc. Needlepoint can be as addictive as smoking though, so watch out...lol Also, a little walk outside is nice...increases your "feel good" endorphins My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 185 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,400 Amount Saved: $1,258.00 Life Gained: Days: 25 Hrs: 21 Mins: 2 Seconds: 19

thank you thank you!! That's a really good suggestion!! In my work we all have the brake at the same time since I play in a military band in Portugal. So everibody comes out at the same time to talk, smoke, eat and all the things people do in their breaktime. So that's an amazing suggestion since that (I think) will be the hardest time tomorrow and the next days until I get a new routine! :) I'm going to see what I have at home now and prepare to take it with me tomorrow!!! :) thanks agains! :) kisses, Cat My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/6/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 48 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 960 Amount Saved: 144.00 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 12 Mins: 35 Seconds: 33

Cat I know you will do well. Yes, attentive is a word :) A suggestion one of our mods (I think it was Danielle, but not sure)made a ways back was to make a "break basket" for work. Fill it with little mini rewards, like sugar free candy, gum, word finds, crosswords, sodokus, books (I'd suggest Off the Mark or Gary Larsen for laughs), special drinks, etc. Things you can reward yourself with and take a little break like you used to with cigarettes. Nonsmokers get breaks, too you know ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 185 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,400 Amount Saved: $1,258.00 Life Gained: Days: 25 Hrs: 21 Mins: 0 Seconds: 9

Tomorrow I'm getting back to work after my amazing and wonderful vacation.... and I KNOW I will crave for a cigarette on those hours and times when I used to smoke. and on streeful occasions... So I know I will have to be really really careful and attentive (if this word exists!!)... I'm starting to do those usual things in the routine but now without the tobaco thing... I'm looking forward to this fight and hoping to be ready to win it!... So... Just to share!!! wish me ggod luck! I will be be in contact A LOT this first work week! at least I already have 49 days in advance!!!
