It's going to take some time, I think. Last time i quit, my ex was a smoker.. but, i can't even realy say because i hated the way he smelled anyhow.
There are some things that Brett can do if he wants to help this along some. This is a toughie, because you are the one that changed, not him. But, you did change for the better, and I kind of am feeling that if he wants to continue his relationship with you and not get his feelings hurt, then he's going to have to take some steps to keep up with the new you.
1) He can have a "smoking shirt". This is going to be a pain in his rear at first, but he'll grow used to it. He just neads to ahve a large button up shirt to slip on over his regular cloths for when he heads out to smoke.
2) He can use gum and mints for his breath after he smokes.
3) When he goes outside to smoke, he could make sure he isn't underneath anything and is out in the open air. This will help the smell of his hair and body in general.
4) He neads to wash his hands after he smokes.
5) He could consider a nice quit so that you two can move foreward together. ;)
