Oh, BTW Sparky. A funny story...When I was in 7th grade, I overheard my (very attractive) english teacher call my (very dorky) math teacher "Sparky" while they were in the teachers lounge. Both were embarrassed that a student had overheard their (personal) conversation. Several weeks later, when my math teacher pissed me off, I called him "Sparky" in class (Of course, I had already spread the news of my previous knowledge, so my comment was greeeted with great laughter!) Anyways...I was suspended from school for a week for that stunt, and I always think of that when I see your name!!!??? If I had to do it all over again................I would do it!!! It was worth it and I gained instant popularity! ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 78 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,940 Amount Saved: $624 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 2 Mins: 34 Seconds: 8

Melanie, thank you. I have quit enough times that I knew what I was and am in for. I don't want to sound better than, but the first two to three days have always been pretty easy. Sure I have spaced out feeling and short temper, but wanting to smoke wasn't to much of an issue. It is when I get out there that the mind games start. I have tried the patches, gum, zyban and smoke away. This time I am going cold turkey. With the patches each time I stepped down I went though withdrawal all over again. The gum made me sick and the smoke awy worked for awhile. I use the zyban alone and with the patches. The key thing for me with this quit being cold turkey the nicotine is out here. I did some reading. Not sure if can mention the book, but it helped a lot. So I take it as it comes. I know I will have to deal with the mind games and it is around day 10 that it really grabed me. So I keep telling myself to tell people about day 10 and will fight like hell. I have never gone past 30 days, so I am looking forward to that. Week one was okay, day 6 was mind games, but made it though. I read a lot of the postings here. I guess the most important advice I got from a non-smoker was never give up quitting; One day you will have smoked your last cig. That person had several tries before she became a non-smoker. I hope this helps, Melanie My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/2/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 78 Amount Saved: $21 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 1 Mins: 8 Seconds: 0

on 1 week - awesome Cuddles It's better to be a non-smoker with an occasional desire for a cig than a smoker with a constant desire to quit...... Sparky, This is indeed helpful for us all! Thank you for sharing your past week of being smoke-free with us. Your past quit stories are also helpful for all of us. We have all learned that quitting smoking can happen. There may be some ups and downs in our quits, but one day we will all be smoke-free. Thanks Sparky!
