the psych teams have it all wrong, OF COURSE, as usual. we really can and should give up smoking, we just have to be extra delicate with ourselves while we're doing it. way to go , you're doing great 25 days

it seems there are two effects. as you know stressors trigger episodes and your quit will definitely give you some stress. second effect is the chemical withdrawal from nicotine which can upset our brain-chemistry+meds balance. I definitiely find my bipolar deteriorates during a quit. so I keep close to the shrinks and keep a mood log. I'm on a rispiridone depot but zyprexa has been added to that totally due to the stress of my quit. However now i've quit NRT too all my rocky reaction should be settled at this point. Not trying to frighten you, but keep a mood log and watch yourself for the slightest changes. i keep my mood log and my quit journal in the same notes.

Everyone have a great cig-free holiday. Here in Ireland Easter is extra special because James Connolly and others begun the process of freeing Ireland from British rule with an Easter Rising in 1916. so Easter is a political as well as religious time in Ireland, the two things we don't talk about in civilized stop smoking fora! Seriously though, breathe free, stay free,
warmest greetings

hi Cabbage, great quit, my doctors don't recommend that I quit NRT so I'm still on it. I'd prefer to be nic free but everytime I try i get the beginings of a bipolar relapse. as i have a masters degree to write at the moment it's not a good time for a bipolar relapse! i totally relate you hate the sight of smoking, I really pity smokers now and am thrilled not to be one anymore. don't know if Daily Llama has been on, but he's kept his quit too

Hi all, finally got over my NRT addiction two weeks ago after 6 months, had hell doing it. Up to 10% of quitters just stay on NRT more than a year. Do your best to stick with the withdrawal plan that comes with the pack but be warned a minority of us have a significantly distressing withdrawal syndrome coming off NRT. i would advise in all cases choose an NRT if no other method will keep you from lighting up, I would still do that should some freak occurence put me in actual danger of relapsing on to smokes. As far as I'm aware my experience is a minority one? But for me my true quit is only 2 weeks old as on all my previous quits of up to 4 months I never before got off NRT without relapsing. I've finally spent my first days totally nic free after 37 years, I'm convinced I finally have it beaten.
