Understanding what happened helps me to accept.

Thanks, Strength.   I think some times we're just not ready for some things until we're ready, you know?   Thank you for you kind, encouraging words.

success story??

That's such a refreshing success story, Goofy.   I can so relate to your feelings about going and I'm glad you pushed yourself through... with Gary's help, of course!
Isn't it funny how this illness is?    We know what we need to do to help us feel better, but have to struggle with our minds to get us to do it.    I think that's what people who don't understand depression don't get about it.   It really doesn't make much sense when you try to think about it.

I am so glad you went on this weekend trip.   You needed a break from working on the house so hard for such a long stretch of time.   Thanks for sharing this with us.  It is, indeed, a success story!

Hello

Hi, Son.   Welcome to this sight.    A new name and post is always welcomed here.

It's so great that you've felt a big difference since taking medication for your condition.    I noticed that you're taking Cipralex and put Lexapro in parens.    Is there a generic form of Lexapro on the market in Canada?     I have been prescribed Lexapro twice.   The first time I responded very well to it, but my insurance company contacted me and wanted me to switch to an anti-depressant of their choice because of the cost.    I did so, and fell into a very bad period of depression.   Just recently my doctor re-prescribed Lexapro, and after 2 weeks I'm seeing a difference in my mood.    Can you tell me anything about Cipralex?

If you're so inclined, you should work the program on this website.   It's so helpful and you've got a ton of members to encourage you along and give you tips and pointers when you need it.

Once again, welcome aboard.   I hope to see you post again soon!

Lexapro

Last summer my doctor prescribed Lexapro for my depression.   It was working well and I got a call from my insurance carrier suggesting that I switch to an anti-depressant of their choice because of the cost of Lexapro.   I felt pressured to do it and in October I experienced the worst state of depression I had ever been in.   I was hospitalized for a week (Thanks, Insurance Carrier, you switched my medication and paid for a week in a private mental health facility).   My doctor kept increasing the anti-depressant the insurance company suggested, Celexa,  until I was taking 80 mg. (I started out at 20mg.)   Just recently my doctor re-prescribed Lexapro, and after two weeks, I'm starting to feel much better.   Has anyone else had issues with insurance companies like this?   I know I'm going to be contacted again regarding this drug.   I'm going to have my doctor deal with them this time, but I still find it annoying that insurance companies are controlling so much of the medical field.  Does anyone know if there is a generic form of Lexapro or if one is going to be released soon?

I like feeling good!

Lexapro

Thanks Breezin.
I will write this name down and talk to my doctor about it the next time I see him.   I will also check out the FDA website for info.

I might have mistated the insurance carrier thing.   They didn't "force" me, but were very persuasive and pushy about the switch.    I caved in.   After all, being in a state of depression doesn't make for a strong backbone....

Thanks again, Breezin.

Hello

Yes.   This does help.    I have written it down and will be taking it when I see my doctor next.   Thanks, Son.

Amazing Book

My counselor recommended Mind Over Mood, by Dennis Greenberger and Christine Padesky and I found it very helpful.     It's where I was first introduced to CBT.    I'd recommend it!

I think this goes under this topic

Awww.   Goofy.   I'm so sorry you're having a bad time of it right now.   I know how frustrating it is to have one good day (or, for instance, your outing last weekend) and then fall down and start struggling to get up again.   It's very discouraging, but to those of us who have been trudging through this depression maze, we know we'll feel better again.   It's just waiting to see when.    There are so many issues to take into account as you're well aware, your physical health is a major one.

I'm just going on and on and don't know if I'm saying anything helpful, but I just want you to know that I care about you and hope you feel lots better real soon.

Hi.

Welcome Pixgirl.   I think you've taken a giant step by coming to this site and I hope you take advantage of everything that's offered here.   The sessions are very helpful if you work them and just posting to this forum (or just reading the other posts if that's what you want to do) is rewarding.   It's a great thing to hear someone else say that they have felt the same way, done the same things, etc.    I look forward to hearing more from you!

You top 3 list - Favourite Song Lyrics

Well, this is fun, but like Goofy said, hard to do.   I have different favorite songs for each mood, time of the year and state of emotional well-being!     But, here are my current faves.   Each of them have a different reason for being a current favorite.

You're Still You, by Josh Groban
Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton  and
         Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol.
