Whether or not Thyroid medication can cause anxiety is not as important to us as why. And this goes for every thing. For me it is antibiotics and My doctor doesn't understand but my therapist does. Let me give you a non panic example. The flu: What happens with the flu is you get weak and achy. All the other things, the feeling lousy and irritable sleepy or agitated are all effects we create because we don't want to feel this way. It is worse if you have PD.
Normal people get the same feelings. Same with medication. It causes anxiety in the normal and us but we treat it different. We tend to focus on the symptoms and turn it into panic. Normal people just feel lousy. The thing we want to try to do is accept the symptoms and just feel lousy instead of panicking. But this is not always possible with PD.
It doesn't have to be medication either. I find anything that is foreign to my body gets me anxious. I find it annoying because I have not been free long enough to be able to just shrug it off.
Thank you Ashley..i have had throid problems for many years..and when the levels are off, your body can suffer all kinds of things, including anxiety and panic attacks..
It sounds like this issue can be confusing without the right information. This is a very important question to ask your Doctor or a Health Care Professional
