thank you so much for replying x I am actually in the UK, not Canada as my profile states x I thinker I made an error when I registered ! Sorry x
I read your mini profile and was interested to learn you studied criminology x coincidentaly, it was the result of being subjected to criminal activity that made me not well x
You are also interested in how online support is another way of help, I think x I would say I am so glad the internet is around so if I am too scared to talk to people in person x this way gives me a means to do it anonymously x which is such a help :-)
I have read through session 1 of the profile and will start to do my homework x at least if I cry I will not have to run out of the doctors or councellors with sunglasses x feeling more depressed x I find it hard to see people in the real world having happy times as I feel my ability to have a happy life has been stolen from me x I am also scared and anxious that people outside have the ability to attack me x as is what happened before x I know not everyone will x just need to re educate my brain and body into believing it I guess x :-)

Hi Feliciaxann,

With panic disorder, I feel that different people tend to focus on different symptoms associated with the anxiety depending on what it is they are afraid of. Someone who's afraid of having a heart attack will focus on their racing heart convinced they are having a heart attack, a person afraid of losing control might focus on how their mind seems 'foggy' or their rapid thoughts. You've identified your main fear is of dying, so what symptoms do you focus on and why? You've mentioned the side pain, why does this worry you so much?

I've found that to be the most useful way of finding out more about your anxiety, ask yourself questions. For example, I know I wash my hands a lot, sometimes twice in a row, because I'm afraid of getting a virus which may cause vomiting. Even something as small as that is a way of challenging the anxiety, being able to identify when the anxiety controls your actions means you can gain that control yourself. :)

We all have our struggles on here, some we choose to share and others we don't. Like you, I have trouble leaving the house but small steps are big steps. Almost everyday, I make sure I go out for half an hour at least. It might only be to the chemist, or to buy a magazine from the newsagent but it doesn't matter. :)

Keep posting on here Feliciaxann, and never give up!

Loveballet,

Thank you for sharing your story with us. There are many people within this support group that share the same questions and concerns as you.  We are all a group of individuals who support each other.

If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests.  These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. This may help you express your feelings about not wanting to return.

We also have developed a Panic Program.  This program is 12-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above.  Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead.

These tests may or may not be for you but they are "free".  If you have any question or concerns with our “TOOLS”, you can contact us at support@paniccenter.net.  We are the Support Specialist for The Panic Center and are open to any questions or concerns you may have.

Please continue to strive forward and lean on us for support.

Keep posting with us and let our members share with you.

hello x I am also new here and need support and help :-) I have complex post traumatic stress disorder and often have panic attacks. I am learning what my triggers are and I am trying to stop the impact they have on me x I am now reluctant to see my doctor as I don't want to keep discussing what happened to me as I just end up crying for ages x how many tears can a person have ??? I am sort of trying to re invent myself so I can avoid being reminded of the horrible things that have happened in the past. Does anyone else do this ???

Feliciaxann-

Welcome, I'm so glad you found this place. Don't ever worry about asking for help - most of us have been at those very lows and have worked or are working through them. You will find great support and understanding here.

As Ashley said definitely start working through the program and doing the homework. Relief takes hard work, but overcoming anxiety is within your reach.

Welcome Feliciaxann

Never ever feel bad about asking help here. The one thing we who have been here a long time have is experience.

If you search through old posts you will find that most likely any thing you have some one else has had.

Yeah, I'm one of those people worse than you or at least I was. Not anymore though. I lived with Agoraphobia so long I thought I was married to it. Now every day is better than the last and except for physical disabilities I could do anything and go anywhere. This year I've made three trips to a city I don't like, three hours each way and each trip in a snow storm. I could probably even fly if I really had to, I just don't want to. Although after sitting in my car for nine hours the train is looking less scary.

As for mysterious pains. Part of Agoraphobia is having things happen that don't so you have an excuse. In my case it was My Arthritis that would get worse to the point of crippling me even though all the tests said I was fine. Funny how it would go away when I gave in to my fear.

Welcome Feliciaxann,

I'm very sorry to hear how you have been feeling. We can help you take handle of this - I'm glad you found us. The program is based on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy principles which is one of the best known treatments for anxiety. Know that anxiety disorders are very common and very managable. Put the work in and you will see results. Start with session one and take your time working your way through. Be sure to do all the homework. Also, post often. We are always here to listen. We have many members here who have started out just like you and are now doing fantastic, living their lives without panic attacks or excess anxiety.

Have you had a chance to begin the program? Any questions so far?

I never really used this because I don't feel like I should ask help from people that are potentially worse than I am. I'm just really at a low spot right now. I can't seem to wrap my head around anything positive and my life consists of one panic attack after another. I have agoraphobia too and I can't leave my house. Even the thought of it scares me out of my wits. My doctor doesn't recommend anxiety meds for me because of my history of them making things worse in the past.

Another thing I'm going through, does anyone have mysterious pains ?
I've had this side pain for a couple years now. I went to the ER, xrays, blood work, urine samples, ct scans, pelvic exams, etc and nothing. I've went to the doctor countless times about it and they can't find anything wrong with me. Here I am, a couple years later, STILL panicking over this and I don't know what to do. I just really need someone to talk to , I keep freaking out thinking I'm dying.. I just don't really have anyone around me that understands my anxiety..
