Picking Up More of the Pieces

Good job Riverdale Man! That's quite the effort you've put forth! Try eating carbs before working out and a little bit of protein after. Should keep you getting so hungry you empty your cupboards after your work out. Keep up the good progress, Danielle ___________________________ The SSC Support Team

Phillip - Awesome for you - hope your day goes really well !! Truly I think that once you join SSC your addiction for Almonds kicks in BIGTIME! I can't leave the smokehouse almonds alone, so addictive. It's Red Hots or Almonds......... Diet has been a major "thing" with me today and yesterday and before. I am not talking about diet like loosing weight and that would ne nice but I am talking about eating healthy, eating consistant and maintaining my word around eating. Got almonds on my way to work today and got dried cranberries I like those, raisins are too sweet although I like them. Lots of water and even had a plate of fresh fruit at my desk to munch on through the afternoon and evening. Dinner was late and was good, greens and grilled mushrooms and goats cheese with a mix of roasted sweet peppers. Dinner was too late in the day and I need to work this out adjust my schedule around when I eat and when I work. What does food have to do with not smoking? Well right now whenever I feel hungry I want to smoke and when that first thought of smoking comes up I am in for a wave, the food and steadyness of the food seems to help. Water has been good at helping me feel full and when I swim to the max of the schedule I need to eat some more, cause I get really hungry. Feeding my creativity also helps my mind stay away from the thought that I am missing something. Also helps reduce my stress. Also helps with the depression just as working out does. Not smoking simply checking in. Thanks ex I like the H.A.L.T. and knowing that any one of these can create a flare a space to act out ie smoke. I am off now to see the addictions counsellor at our local centre for addiction and mental health. Funny how the two are often linked? So anyways I get two hours free with a counsellor this am. I'll let you know all about it when I get back. Hey Riverman, Your diet sounds very healthy! good job. I have been to quite a few nicotine anonymous meetings in my area (if anyone is interested, just do an internet search under "nicotine anonymous" and you will find meeting in your city). They have a saying that goes like this. When you are quitting smoking; remember HALT Don't get too Hungry Angry Lonely Tired All of these emotions or physical states can make us think that we want to smoke. Just being conscience of these things can help us stay strong against the addiction. You are doing great; 2500 cigs not smoked! WOW!
