AWESOME STATS, Lou P Lou. 1 smoke free year is FANTASTIC. You've worked hard for it, and now its time to really reward yourself. Keep that great quit going strong. Hey Deb!!! I used NOPE a lot also. I also decided to tell myself that regardless of the situation that smoking was NOT an option. That helped me through when my 13 (almost 14 now) year old son decided to move out of state to his dad's. I also would think about how bad the craves were the first day/week/month... I sure don't want to go back through that and if I smoke I will have to. I also found things to do when the craves got to bad. The first few months I painted my nails more than you can imagine! A cheap reward would be a new bottle of nail polish... and when craves got really bad I would sit down and work on my nails. I have never been one to keep painted nails... but the first few months of my quit they were very pretty!! (and a different color almost hourly some days... LOL!!!!) It does get better Deb... There are days that I think about smoking.. but I wouldn't call it a crave. There are times when a crave will hit me, but it doesn't last too long. The results are well worth it!!! The longer I have not smoked the better I feel... Congrats on on your 50 days!!! (I was away from the site for a while but I do believe that 50 days means you are on the ship!!!!!) You will be to the beach before you know it!!!! AHHHH, I see you are a nurse! I am not a nurse but a unit clerk at a hospital here in Birmingham... Hey Lou, Thanks for taking the time to share that with me. I appreciate your encouragement--and kinda feel the same as you describe many days. Some are easy & others it seems I struggle the whole day. I use the NOPE thing alot & remind myself of how badly I've felt in the past when I relapsed. I do think this site has made this quit MUCH stronger. Congrats to you--wish I'd have done it sooner... Hi Deb! Thank you so much! Yes, I feel very very strong! I am amazed with myself, I never thought I could really do it! I remember thinking (just before I quit) that I didn't know how to be a non-smoker. Funny how we can learn those things!!! The past year... hummm... I guess the best way to put it is it was a journey. There were many ups and downs. Moments when I didn't think I was strong enough to do it.. then I would amaze myself. I won't say it was easy, because that would be a total lie. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done... but it is the best thing I have ever done! I am so very happy that I found SSC just before my quit.. without this site I don't know that I would have even made the first week. You are doing great Deb... 49 days days is awesome!!! Your journey is well underway and before you know it you will be celebrating your year!!!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/18/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 367 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,340 Amount Saved: $1,835.00 Life Gained: Days: 29 Hrs: 6 Mins: 29 Seconds: 30
