I know exactly what you mean and it is quite frustrating. My dh does not seem to care and offers no support, yet if I am smoking, then he complains about it. In my past quit attempts, I would wonder, why can't I smoke if no one seems to care whether I do or not. Have to do it for ourselves. Wanna hear something funny?? The person who has supported me the most throughout my quit so far has been my sister!! What's funny is that SHE SMOKES!! At first I kinda turned to her hoping she'd kinda give me the "well it's ok to have ONE" kinda speech, but she's been so supportive and has been the one to talk me out of smoking!! Well, atleast you have all of us to lean on, we all know it ain't easy!!!! Stay strong!! Why is it that members of your family and people you work with want you to quit smoking and are all happy you are quiting, but after a few days they think that it's all over. You have quit and don't need anymore support? I have to come right out and said I HAVEN'T SMOKED IN 8 DAYS!!!! Oh yea how is it going? Where is the support? My husband that smokes in his workshop in the basement. I said to him the other day that I haven't smoked in 6 days. He says yea I'm proud of you . I know because I noticed you don't even open the basement door. WHERE IS THE SUPPORT!!!!!!!!! Do people think it is easy to quit smoking? It is very frustrating that people just go (Oh thats good) What is the deal here? It really makes me mad that they can't give you more support. It almost makes you think (Why am I trying so hard to quit?) I know it is for myself but everyone says you should quit but then if you make it passed a couple days its like you made it. Are they stupid or what? Sorry but today I had to tell a few people at work and my husband this weekend that this is not easy and I could use a little support from then. (like good job. I know it's not easy. Call me if you need help.) Am I just being crabby or what? jnine

Jnine I understand. You know what I've done? At the milestones, (2 wks, 3 wks), I tell my friends and people at work that it's been XXXX number of days since I smoked. I go on to say how proud of myself I am! So... it's okay to toot your own horn! I've never been more proud of myself, so you be PROUD! Come here for support. It's where you'll get the most, because we ALL understand! Hang in there... you have my full support! GO JNINE! Jnine: I know how frustrating that can be, but you have to remember that nonsmokers will NEVER go through what you and I and the rest of us are experiencing. So they can't possibly appreciate how difficult this is. It sounds like you're doing a good job, though, of telling them! LOL They don't understand that this is a very serious addiction. Let us be the ones to pat you on the back and you make sure YOU pat yourself on the back. Hubby doesn't do it because he's secretly jealous that you're a nonsmoker. Remember, all smokers really want to be nonsmokers. Ha!! And you've done it! Hang in there. You're doing just great! jnine, CONGRATULATIONS ON 8 DAYS! (or however many it's been now... btw, try to post your meter each time so that WE can congratulate you as you go along!) I think this is one of the reasons why this support group is so vital for so many of us - we get the way to go's that we don't get anywhere else. Other people just don't appreciate what we are going through. Either they are still smoking and REALLY don't want to hear about our success as ex-smokers because then, that means that it IS possible and it causes them to feel more guilty about NOT doing it and it seems to constantly point out their flaws to them, even if that's not what we're meaning to do... OR, they are non-smokers and don't understand why there's a single smoker on the earth anyway, so who care's if you quit? It's something you shouldn't have started in the first place, according to them and they will NEVER understand why quitting is such a big deal! So that's what we're here for! Come here anytime you need to brag! That's what the stats section is all about - whether you're celebrating 1 day, 1 week or 238 days if that seems like a good number for you to celebrate! Anything you want to celebrate, WE will celebrate it with you because WE know what you've been through! COngrats on your quit! Don't EVER let anybody make you think that your quit isn't that big of a deal, k? There's a bunch of us here who KNOW just how big of a deal it really is... and are here to support you anytime you need it! Crave the Quit! Crabby seems to be the theme of the week! :eg: Maybe we should form a club... Maybe you should go rent the movie The Burning Bed with Farrah Fawcett and have hubby watch it with you. Put a can of gasoline at the foot of the bed and matches on the nightstand.... :eg: My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 136 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,842 Amount Saved: $1088 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 11 Mins: 47 Seconds: 35
