Almost through day 4!!

Hello all. My name is Jazz. My husband and I quit smoking Jan. 3rd using nicotine patches. Yesterday was horrible but I persevered. I'm really proud of both of us and hope we can continue our "quit". Does anyone know if the shakes are a symptom of withdrawal?

Almost through day 4!!

Day 5 and we're still smoke-free. (mind you it's only mid-morning LOL) Way good!! This support site is awesome, as are the people who are posting. I've been doing a lot of reading of different posts on this site the last couple of days, and it's a fantastic network of suggestions, support and success stories! When I look at the number of days of some people's "quit", I'm really amazed. I sure hope hubby and I can be as successful. Thanks to everyone for the positive feedback. I'm sure we'll be counting on your support to help us succeed.

Concerns about using NRT

Hi again. Proud to be working on day 5! Hubby and I are using the patch to help us quit, but after reading through some of the posts, I'm getting the feeling that we're going to go through the same withdrawal symptoms after we finish the 10 week supply. Tell me this isn't so......... Things are hard enough right now. We don't want to be successful for any length of time then have to struggle harder when we're done our patches. Help?!?! Concerns about using NRT

Thanks guys! Both of us are working really hard on changing up our routines, watching for triggers, etc. I've read a lot of information about quitting, withdrawal, what to expect, etc., as well as I attended a quit smoking seminar in early Dec., but I don't remember reading anything about what happens after the patch. I have to be confident that it will be OK. We're really excited about quitting - hubby says "his brand new lungs" are the best Xmas gift we could have given each other!! This support site is truly awesome! I'm not one to chat on-line, but will certainly make an exception for this site and spend as much time as I can reading and posting. Some amazing quit times out there - and yes, we will reach them too. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/3/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 80 Amount Saved: $30.40 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 11 Mins: 36 Seconds: 14

Concerns about using NRT

Hi Sue in NC: Someone mentioned there was another couple that quit together. Congrats on that, and look at your mileage! Very impressive. I may be calling on you guys for support - so far things are still great between hubby and I. Thankfully we have a very strong relationship to start with (married 26 fabulous years)!!! :) Day 6 and we're really excited to almost see the "week from hell" gone. I'm feeling a little disoriented and light-headed today, but hopefully that won't interfere with my workload staring at me on my desk. Oh well, deep breath, and have at it! Josie, are you there?

I'm having 2nd thoughts about my choice of using the patch to quit. I know I'm not ingesting all the other crud from the cigarettes into my system, but I'm still getting the nicotine from the patch. Do you have any idea how many cigarettes the 21 mg patch would equate to per day? (nicotine wise, not chemicals) Am I still able to consider myself a "quitter" even though I'm still getting the nicotine? Thanks.
