Hey Ryan!!!

Welcome to the SSC and congrats for not giving up on quitting!!!  I'm sure that if you have definitely made up your mind about making this your final quit, you will do it!  If you make that commitment to live by this simple acronym, N.O.P.E., Not One Puff Ever, you are home free, buddy!

I'll second and third those recommendations about going through the Program, aka "My Program" and utilizing the other tools in the pull down box above.  Completing those milestones will be very helpful on your journey to freedom!  Also, read and learn from all of your new quit buddies here on the forums.  There is a wealth of information here that will help you on your way.  Also, if you have questions, just holler!  We're all rooting for you!

Hey Ryan3006,

Welcome to the stop smoking center forums.
As members have mentioned, the boards are a great place to get the support you are looking for and get a lot of great information from people you can relate to, so continue to look around and fine threads most relevant to you.

As for our program, there a lot of tools and tips you can use to aid with your quit and hopefully make it stick this time around. One example is to set up your emergency coping plan (ideas on how to distract, use self talk, avoid, delay giving in long enough for craving to pass) for when faced with cravings. You will see this and other tools within the program.

All the best as you work towards maintaining a smoke free life. Check in as often as you'd like

Hey Ryan,
Welcome to the boards. It sounds like you are very determined to quit. You are correct that anxiety and panic should be reduced once you get through the withdrawals. One of the positive (an unexpected) effects for me was that I feel much much calmer through out the day. I think it's because I'm not riding the nicotine roller coaster as nicotine levels go up and down.

You will find support here. I have been very grateful for this community of quitters. While you are here, you might want to check out the quitting tools section (at the top of the page here). They will also help you with your journey. And feel free to read and post as needed. Looking forward to seeing you around.

Welcome Ryan3006  Drinking ice water for the craves has helped a lot of people get through. Keep ice cold water on hand and when you get a crave instead of lighting up drink some cold water. It really helped me anyway. You've been able to stop for 4 months so build on your success. Other people have stopped smoking and so can you. We're here to support you. One day at a time we learn how to live without smoking. Yay for you ! Excellent. breather

Hey, I'm quitting for my 5th time this year. Need some help so figured I'd join this forum so that I dont feel so alone in this. I've had a few successful attempts. Last time I quit for about 4 months. Just really wanna make it permanent this time. I have smoked since I was 13. I'm 30 now. Never smoked more than about 12-15 per day. I recently started suffering from some panic attacks and supposedly you're not supposed to smoke if you have a panic disorder, so I figured might as well quit. Also going through hell while withdrawing from benzos (taken for the panic), so I figured I might as well just quit while I already feel like crap. Hope to make some new friends and get some much needed support. Thanks in advance and good luck to us all!
