I prepared by cutting way down to less than a half a pack a day. I was an easy pack a day smoker. I also changed the times I would smoke...instead of smoking in the car when driving somewhere, I would wait until  got home. I also stopped smoking at work about 6 months ago. Little changes like that seems to be making it a little easier. I have been feeling a little spaced out for a cople days....nothing that a Starbucks coffee cant fix!  Thanks for all the support guys!

Hi!
Welcome to SSC
You made a wonderful decision.
Have your ice water on hand and write down your reasons to quit. Read them everytime a craving sneaks in.
Deep breathing, carrot stick, hot showers, long walks, are great too.
Set a reward system and just ttake one craving at a time!
You can do it, because I am doing it!

Hey Sickofsmoking. Congrats on 3 days! Setup your stats so that we can more easily celebrate your triumphs. Go to 'My Profile', setup your stats, and then go to 'Support Group Options" and setup the rest. Both can be found near the top of this page. Post as often as you need to. Someone will always respond. Drink plenty of ice, cold water. It increases your metabolism, helps to fill you, and loosens that nasty mucus. Keep plenty of veggies and sugar-free goodies, like Lifesavers and Jolly Ranchers and gum, around.

My Milage:

My Quit Date: 5/1/2009
Smoke-Free Days: 289
Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,092
Amount Saved: $3,135.65
