Seamus, first 3 days is the hardest. Not everyone quits first shot. I am on my 4th attempt and has been my longest run so far. These are some of the things I did before I quit this last go around, they helped me a lot, might work for you too: Stop smoking in your vehicle. Smoke only one spot outside - Go only there to smoke. Hold off on your first smoke in the morning as long as possible Don't smoke after you eat a meal, wait as long as possible Try not and smoke when drinking. Don't finish cigarette, smoke 1/2. Smoke only on even hours Smoke different brand less tar Break up any smoking routine My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 60 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,500 Amount Saved: $210.00 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 7 Mins: 32 Seconds: 4

Seamus I know how you feel. I have went through this quitting thing before. I do believe being here I will make it this time. One day at a time and one breath at a time is all we can do. I have 5 more days till my quit but with the way I am going I might stop before then. It seems for me to go walking helps. And DEEP BREATHING.. that is one thing I have to remember to do breath. lol Good luck My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/7/2007 Smoke-Free Days: -5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: -155 Amount Saved: $-26.35 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: -56316

Seamus, Good for you in committing to give it another try tomorrow with patches. Is it possible for you to pick them up this evening so you'll have one to put on as soon as you wake up in the morning? Do you have hard candy, gum, and sunflower seeds available to help you through some of the craves? Way to get back on the quit, Seamus. Sorry you slipped but it isn't the end of the world. Keep at it, you CAN do it & you WILL do it. Rusty is right, you're as strong as anyone, you just have to show the junkie that. Keep checking in here & ask for help when you need it. I'm glad for you, Seamus. That is exactly what you should be doing...regroup, rethink, and jump back in as soon as you are ready. One day, one hour and one minute at a time are a major tool for you to use here. Don't think too far ahead...stay right here right now. Rusty :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/13/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 930 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 26,040 Amount Saved: $3,255.00 Life Gained: Days: 131 Hrs: 4 Mins: 53 Seconds: 51
