Myth or Fact

12 years ago 0 4027 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Samantha,
It's hard to accept this myself.

There's so much education needed to undo the conditioning of centuries.

When celebreties popularize a disease, people who like the celebrity start to accept the disease.  An example might be how Alzeimer's disease was popularized through the movie "The Notebook" or in the touching movie "Driving Miss Daisy".

I almost wish the word "mental" was removed from the term "mental health", since it is stigmatizing, unlike breaking a leg skiing, which appears to give a person status and prestige

Myth: Mental illness is a character flaw and if they really try, people can pull themselves together.

Fact: mental illness is just that – an illness! It has nothing to do with being weak or lacking willpower.
