Okay this is important.

You are concerned with your condition, but it is yours not theirs. Do not burden them with it. Save that for us on this forum. Yes you can let them know you now have this condition but leave it at that. If anything joke about it. Believe me hot flashes are more acceptable to people than anxiety disorders to those that don't understand. And few are going to understand. If you go for coffee make it that. Be careful you don't get sucked in by the need to talk about your condition, anything but that. Like I said, save that for here, we are always here and listening. Vent here, not to your friends and if you find some one in the same condition keep it light you want to stop the negative not increase it. You are going to have to live two lives now. One with your friends, and one with us and your condition. When you are better you can drop us along with this condition. (this is a condition, not a disease.)

Hello misscristie,

Relationships are a very important aspect of life. I think it's great that you want to re-connect with your friends, session 11 of the program is all about relationships. This session touches on communication skills and styles, and problems in relationships. Reach out to your friends, use the communication tips to help you communicate effectively with them. Set a date to grab a coffee and stick to that date. It is easy to say you'll get together sometime soon but as soon as you set a time and place you have a greater chance of following through with it.

You have some really great ideas for meeting new people, I would recommend browsing online from meetup groups in your area. There are tons of meetup groups out there for all kinds of interests. This is a great way to get out there and do something and also make new like-minded friends.

Members, how do you meet new people? How have you re-connected with old friends?

I've read the articles about excessive worrying, and depression.  All very good and informative.
I have both.  And I'm trying to "get well".

I would like to know how to re-connect with friends. I know keeping busy, and not being alone is important for me, it keeps my mind off worrying.  But because of recent past behavior (sharing my thoughts and feelings), my friends have been becoming more distant.  I try to have a more positive outlook on my personal affairs, with them, but, I get from them, "yea, we'll have to get together sometime", but never do, or only for a very short time.
I do not want to be too dependent on others, but I do not like the feeling of being alone either.

any suggestions ??
