Hello Dave , well at least you had a laugh !! Ok seriously you arnt being self centred at all . I used to be paranoid about people looking and talking about me as well . Its not nice at all . The good news is after years i am so much better . Not saying im perfect lol but i look at people and im certainly not judging them so why would they be judging me ?

That list of questons is quite good too i think , just have a bad memory so wouldnt remember that when im out lol

Hi Dave,

The next time this happens, try asking yourself the following questions...

  1. Is it "true"?
  2. How do I know it’s true?
  3. Is it 100% true? (remember something that is 75% or 99% true is not 100% true)
  4. What's the evidence for it being true?
  5. What's the evidence against it being true?
  6. Has it ever happened before?
  7. What's different now?
  8. If it were true, how bad would it really be?
  9. What's the worst thing that could happen?
  10. If the worst thing happened, how bad would it really be?
Hope this helps.

Something in the way that was worded made me laugh.. probably because it strikes me as dead on.

For a quick example:

In public, anytime people are talking quietly I think they are talking about me. anytime I hear a laugh I think they are laughing at me. (self centred I guess) Now I know this is not usually the case (or I hope not anyway) but the thought pops up every time. Thankfully this really doesn't bother me much.

Members,

As we’ve seen before, depression and anxiety can result in many other issues.  People with depression or anxiety often feel that they’re different from others and/or that people somehow can tell that they’re “different” or “not right”.  As a result people with anxiety or depression are often on the lookout for evidence that others are rejecting them.

Have any members here felt this way?
