Thanks everyone, for the great advice and support. It's nice to know there are people out there who care that I can relate too. I'll let you know how the job search goes. Thanks again. Mandinder

You are very brave to deal with this disorder and anyone would be nervous about starting a new jobk, interview, etc but esp people with panic....I noticed an ad awhile back for Work At Home - Earn up to $40,000 a year to be a medicacl billing specialist.....Im not sure if its for real or a school trying to get you to enroll but the number is 1-800-388-8765 Dept CVNA74. Good Luck.

I have to agree and say that Katie has given you some great advice there! All i can say is i'm in a similar situation myself. I'm looking for a job now aswell, and although i have asked myself whether or not i can do it, i still feel i have to try. This will be my first job, having been in education my whole life. I have an interview on Saturday, and i am very nervous, but like Kaite said, there is the excitement there also. I dont know whether or not this will help you, but the thing that has kept me going is believing that i have to try. You always have to give it a go, and even if u cant do it in the end, at least u know u tried ur best and can try again later. What have you got to lose? Good luck with it, wishing you the best Sarah xx

Mandiner, just wanted to say we are all rooting for you!! Katie gave some EXCELLENT advice, I don't think I can add to it. Though I can say that I find my anxiety more manageable at work because I am busy and distracted from my thoughts. Maybe it will be this way for you too. It is not like being in the store line where you are doing nothing but waiting, you are actually busy. Anyway, I wish you the best. Rachele

I don't know about you, but when I "have to" do something, it always makes it seem worse. It's funny you should post this question. I have a job interview in 3 hours and I'm terrified. I have been working (a job that was a rut, but I was comfortable), but I had to quit my job so we could move to a new city. I've been putting off finding anything 'till I could work up the nerve to go for an interview. My suggestion would be: start by apply for things on-line. You might feel more comfortable if you weren't somewhere unfamiliar while filling out an application. Next, if you do get an interview, have someone acompany you there (not in the interview, of course, just outside in the car or something). My husband is going with me today. Don't worry about the question "what have you done in the past 3 years". Just say something like, "I took a few years off to work on some other projects, but now I'm ready to get back in the work force." I'm nervous, but kind of excited about getting a new job. I had the same one for 10 years. I hated it, but I didn't want to try something new. Now that I have to, I'm not as uncomfortable about the idea as I thought I'd be. I'm looking forward to getting out of the house and being with other people all day. I'm also excited about having a routine again. Not knowing what to do all day makes me panicky. Good Luck to you. You can do it! Just fill out some applications on like (monster, hotjobs, etc.). It will get you in the mindset and you'll be more comfortable. I hope this helps. Katie

Mandinder, You have come to the right place! Please continue to share your thoughts with us. There are many people within this support group that share the same questions and concerns as you. We are all a group of individuals who support each other. If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests. These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. We also have developed a Panic Program. This program is 12-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above. Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead. This will prepare you for your new job and taking a step in the right direction. These tests may or may not be for you but they are "free". If you have any question or concerns with our €œTOOLS€, you can contact us at support@paniccenter.net. We are the Support Specialist for The Panic Center and are open to any questions or concerns you may have. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Keep strong and keep posting, Josie

Hello. This board is great. I've been suffering from anxiety for three years now. In the beginning I had full blown panic attacks but I've surpassed that (for now) and would like to get over the anxieties that are left. I have a big problem with going to the grocery store (mostly the standing in line part actually) My husband has supported me for three years but now I not only need a job for my own well being, but due to circumstances, I HAVE to get one...I'm terrified. I don't know how to answer the question "What have you been doing for three years?". I really want to be able to work. I just don't know if I can handle it. I'm wondering if anyone has any advice for me on learning how to go back to work with anxiety. If so, it'd be a HUGE help. I feel trapped in this situation and I want to get out and make my life more meaningful. Thanks for listening. Mandinder
