Thanks for posting Carmie.

I love that STOP! What a great way to relax. I'm going to try that

Hi Ashley:

I wanted to post that I am grateful for these tips.  Today I needed a little help, relaxing at work and I am doing the mini-massage and the breathing and it is helping.

We're coming out of a weekend of wild and rainy weather.  There was a trip we had to make in the middle of the storm and I credit CBT with helping me to be able to get through it without my anxiety levels getting too high.

I also recently heard Deepak Chopra talk about a technique that he uses.  It's called STOP.  Here is what the letters stand for:  S) Stop T) Take three deep breaths and smile with every part of your being O) Observe how that feels P) Proceed with kindness and compassion

That technique helped me quite a bit during the storm and resulted in my having a really great weekend!

Thanks again,
Carmie

In the past week, we’ve been talking about stress management. Here are a few tips to help you make the most of your break time:
  • Day dream. Give yourself five minutes and imagine yourself in a place far, far away from your desk. You can also use this time to remind yourself why you’re working so hard. Ex: Think of your family, a close friend, your pets or plants, a time when you felt very relaxed.
  • Make the most of your lunch hour! EAP just isn’t what it used to be. Many workplaces now offer exercise classes during lunch or after work. If your place of employment doesn’t offer these types of classes, check out the neighborhood. Chances are there are classes around your workplace or you can take it into your own hands. Go out for coffee & a walk before, during or after work.
  • Mini massages: Typing & writing can wear on your hands; try giving yourself a little massage to relieve the tension.
  • Redo your cubicle: Bring things from home like pictures, plants, a stress ball, a Sudoku book. Turn your space into a place you like spending time in.

How else can you relax at work?
