Little things matter

Vincenza,
I'm going to try to pick up a church flyer, where they list some activities for the month.  The new pastor is really engaging, and has changed our community so there's so much more going on, and opportunity to do things in a civil environment

Hugs,
Good to hear you got a chance to have a bit of social interaction with others on Sunday..Like your thread suggests.
Little things matter..They really do..I find little bit are sometimes the best..

Hi Hugs,

I'm so glad to hear you had this positive experience!  Knowing you have important commitments at home, how do you think you could create more opportunities for social interaction?

Another "chance" meeting, was  after a sermon at church.  I couldn't stay for refreshments, but wished to comment on an additional talk, given by a pastoral associate.  I couldn't stay since I had to make lunch.

I'd love to be able to have more freedom, but now I have some caregiving commitments, and most people need to live life around their commitments, whatever they are.

I felt better after the meeting, and the person thanked me for my input

Appreciation isn't something I always get, and that's a caregiver's common experience.  After a hectic week, I cooked a nice casserole, but we only had the top part without the good stuff, which was in lower layers. I'm learning about cooking, and used too much, so I didn't continue the layering so the first tasting was skimpy.  I also cooked some bread pudding, and it was bit much for one day, since I also squeezed in a workout.

It was nice to have a 30 second interaction with someone other than my mom

With respect to "socializing", it really doesn't have to be more than a little greeting, as opposed to going to a "function".

Imagine that when we meeting someone, that person is connected to a many others who are ultimately connected to the rest of the world

I got that insight today, as I ventured out after an awful storm, and had to talk to a succession of people, but only briefly...neighbours dealing with an electrical problem; the fiancee of the electrician; the electrician;the hairdresser; the parking enforcement officer;the hairdresser again;the librarian as I researched stuff...imagine being connected to the rest of the world

I thought that I had to get social media, but that just speeds up the connections, and the connections may be superficial.

It's like Ghandi said "There's more to life that speed"

Great to hear hugs!

This new course sounds like a good peice of exposure for you.  You will have to tell us how it goes.

Today I successfully logged into a college website for a course I'm going to take.

I'd worried about getting into the site, since I'd been ill, didn't have time to look into the site, and the college kept sending emails without my having the time to contact them.  Also it's a big school, and I almost felt neglected.

When I saw the amount of resources, I was so gratified!

I so agree with you both!
I can start a day with feeling bad,or down, and as soon as i start communicating, everything changes!
I feel better, more open, and laughter is the best!
It makes my day to see someone smile!
Not many will say hello, good morning, how are you today...some are to busy with cell phones,i had a young girl walk right into me at the mall the other day,as she was texting and walking..tells ya something dont it???
Anyway...i try to greet everyone with a smile, and hello!!!
Bren
