"Advantages" of Anxiety

12 years ago 0 4027 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Since I'm detail-oriented, I decided to take advantage of that today.

I had some coupons I wished to use, and it happened that I'd eaten too much.  So I took a long walk to the big box store to use the coupons before the expiry date(since I was afraid they'd expire).

I worked off the extra food, got the discount.  Even though the cashier didn't apply them correctly, through an honest mistake, I think I made the best of a situation.

Hi Hugs

Yes you sound similar to me my anxious and slightly obsessive side makes me determined to do a good job at work, it also means that I have a very good memory for names and situations.

Just to add another, it's great for survival too, although it may feel uncomfortable.

Yes, I was always told that I am too sensitive.  Teased for it many times. However, it is that very sensitivity which has allowed me a rich and rewarding volunteer experience helping others for over 12 years.  I used to think being overly sensitive was a handicap but now I see it as an advantage, makes me more observant and caring.  People often tell me how easy I am to be around and talk to and how they feel safe with me, peaceful.
One of my main goals in life is to have visitors leave my place with joy and peace in their heart.  My little drop in the bucket for mankind.
So maybe Hugs, your attention to detail and deligence toward your work was an awesome plus! Sunny

Yes.  I'm always checking ahead and behind but not obsessing, just checking possibilities.

Does anyone use their anxiety to their advantage?

My obsessive side helped me in my work as an auditor, with the specific skills of checking, copying, verifying.
My hypervigilance helped with anticipating many situations which weren't visible.
Worry doesn't allow me to forget much, so my memory is always great.
My vulnerability always allowed others to trust my integrity, since there is a "rawness" which I've always had.

Does anyone relate or have similar advantages to their condtions?
