Signs That You´re Getting Better?

12 years ago 0 6252 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Periodically something that has helped some one is attributed to me and it makes me smile of course but it is just information. The truth is, if there is improvement at all it is because you did it.
Some of the most surprising breakthroughs are here in forums. Light bulb moments, revelations, call them what you will but they are powerful and passed on do so much more good than can be imagined. We are a group, sharing experiences, help, and support but still it is each individual person with their own struggle that is curing them. Your storeys are like a crutch propping up the weak and giving them the incentive to go the extra mile, and Lord knows this is a long hard road. But I've been down it and it is easier if you do it with some one who understands. I'm so glad to see that you are reaching out and only wish more people would join us on this journey.

Red,
I was going ask about what the "quit" reference was, but that's a good reframing of what many of us are attempting to do - "don't worry be happy" might be a better attitude.

Sonia,
I was just hoping others would join me on the personal growth journey by remarking on their "signs" of success, since there are probably similarities, and those would create more momentum

Hugs,
Great attitude!!! You got me laughing today.
Thanks,,Red....

Sonia,
Just thought I would bring it to your attention that this is the panic center..We are not trying to quitting smoking or drinking like two of the sister sites but I guess we are trying to quit panicing so I get we are quitting so to speak.
Thanks for the great support anyway.  You got me to laughing too!!! With you ,not at you!!!

hugs4U,

I love this idea of posting signs you've gotten better! It's so creative and I enjoyed reading through your list.

Are you planning on making lists like these at regular intervals into your quit? How did it feel to put together this list?

Wonderful stuff... keep it up!

Signs I have gotten better are:

1) I've had a pimple on the end of my nose and am not self-conscious about it
2) When I don't get my "to do" list done daily, I allow myself another day to finish it, or just start over instead of obsessing
3) I went to the bank, and made the best I could of the situation, instead of waiting indefinitately and not doing anything, or thinking I could do better and feeling guilty
4) I haven't been accepted at a culinary school, but I can plan meals so we can be nourished properly showing confidence in the kitchen
5) I diagnosed a problem with my computer after a long time, and fixed the monitor by thinking rationally.  I thought the monitor was faulty, but after buying a new cable, I found I've entered the wonderful world of actual(not blinking or hallucigenic) colour
6) I'm accepting that each day's goal of socializing doesn't have to ambitious, and I'm recording my success weekly even though it's smaller than my expectation, as I get better at getting out more
7) Rather than feeling helpless about neck caused by my constantly staring at my laptop monitor, I remember a massage therapist's advice to massage my shoulders, as the pain lessens, until I can see the chiropractor again...hopefully ready to shovel snow
8) I found an alternative today when mom was afraid of the escaltor by asking to use the store elevator showing initiative and empathy for her fear
9) A woman smiled at me today at the bank after I grimaced(I was in pain from my neck muscles being sore) and I thought that maybe I could spontaneously learn to smile, since no-one would know I was really in pain

What small signs do you show that you're getting better
