Hello Samantha. It is so true what you said. We have to love ourselves if we want to get healthier. This love could include self-esteem, confidence in ourselves, belief in our capabilities, etc.

Of course this is not easy and especially when we are suffering with anxiety or depression.

Samantha,
At the risk of turning off anybody who doesn't like organized religion, i have to share a habit I've developed.

I do a daily review which would include a number of questions relating to my loving myself.  Usually one then pauses and reflects...it's hard at the end of the day, since there are many reflection questions, though.

There are 11 sections, and under "Self", the questions include:
Did I listen to my body, and did I take care of it?  Did I nourish my mind?  Do I consider myself a beautiful person?  Did I make or do something beautiful today to build up a culture of ceauty, one moment at a time?

I can check these all off today

As you fall in love with yourself, you naturally get healthier. All the do’s and don’ts of health education can only build a house of straw unless love is the foundation. When you see love in operation in a relationship, you see trust, acceptance of the uniqueness of each person, understanding of differences, and forgiveness of failing.
