Thanks for the support! Hugs for U... I do keep a journal, but I'm not as diligent as I should be with it. I will definitely try to write more frequently in it so that I can "go back" and track the progress. Great suggestion...

Hi Drivin-n-Cryin'

Sounds like you are on the right track!
As you mention, it is the small steps we take to achieve the ultimate goal.  No matter if the feelings you get through exposure are painful or joyful,  you will come to a better understanding of yourself and the world around you.

Thank you for sharing & keep up the good work!

I feel I've spent so much time anticipating and regretting that I wish to  savour the present, but it's been a long, long time getting here.  Enjoying the present is the goal, and with that focus, so much is possible - intimacy and just the material goals which seemed blurry and unreachable. Keeping a journal a good idea, since I can also confirm that the forum, for the most part, does help get rid of the loneliness.  It's awful when one forgets or takes something for granted.

I'm doing my exposure work and I'm finding that "small victories" are very rewarding. It feels so much better to conquer a part of the process than to set out to defeat the entire thing and feel terrible for "failing".  I've found myself becoming more comfortable even thinking about my fears that I had before.  I REALLY want to get to the ultimate goal, but I don't want to miss feeling the feelings that get me to the place that I need to be in my mind. Does this make sense to anyone? I appreciate having these Forums to read. I feel so much less alone than I have in the 20 years I've been suffering with anxiety and panic. Thanks to you all....

Hello Drivin-N-Cryin,

Thank you for sharing your story with us. There are many people within this support group that share the same questions and concerns as you.  We are all a group of individuals who support each other.

If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests.  These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor.

We also have developed a Panic Program.  This program is 12-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above.  Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead.

These tests may or may not be for you but they are "free".  If you have any question or concerns with our “TOOLS”, you can contact us at support@paniccenter.net.  We are the Support Specialist for The Panic Center and are open to any questions or concerns you may have.

Please continue to strive forward and lean on us for support.

You can cure this you know, it calls for a bit of work and a whole lot of understanding why, but you can cure it and be back driving. So stick with us and let us help you stop that safety zone from getting any smaller.

Welcome Drivin... Love your pic.  Shows you still have your sense of humor.  That helps a lot.  You have come to the right place to get help.  Many members have had problems with driving.  Working through the lessons will get you where you need to be as well.  Take your time with each lesson... do the homework... you will be driving and honestly LIVING very soon.  A lot of ppl start to feel somewhat better just after reading through lesson one.  Good luck... keep coming back... post any questions or concerns you may have.  We are here for you.

I've been exploring this site for a couple of weeks and have enjoyed scanning the Forums, as well as beginning the program.  I really feel like I have found a source of hope and understanding.  I have been dealing with panic and anxiety for 20 years, having peaks and valleys throughout this time.  However, over the past 4 years, I have dealt with many changes in my life and the ugly "Beast" has come back with a vengeance.  My world is rapidly becoming smaller and smaller.  My "safety zones" are becoming more limited.  As you may have gathered by my screen name, driving is my BIGGEST obstacle! I don't do it... at ALL! I've come to a point that this avoidance behavior is no longer an option!! I have 3 great kids that want and need to be in different places at different times constantly and Mom "can't" do it! In my very soul, I DON'T believe that, but I can't convince my stubborn head. I'm so looking forward to beginning this journey of recovery with this group. If any of you have specific issues with driving, please share with me what has worked for you. Thank you to the ones that have already welcomed me to this site and hopefully I can share something meaningful that has allowed me to deal with day to day GAD and overcome some of my other fears and concerns.  Thanks to all...

Drivin-N-Cryin
