Myth or Fact?

My Mom is a very nervous, fearful, worrier type of person.  I have learned a lot of fear behavior from her.  I don't blame her, she had a chaotic childhood.  The good news is, as an adult, I am responsible for changing my behavior and unlearning fear.  I've been able to do that through this program and with all of the support from everyone on this site.  Thank you all.

Myth: Mental illness is the result of bad parenting.

Fact: Most experts agree that a genetic susceptibility, combined with other risk factors, leads to a psychiatric disorder. In other words, mental illnesses have a physical cause.
