Hey everyone...

Well I definately need a holiday.. and can't wait to get away.  We're off the last week of July...not very far this year but at a lake with the kids...and no cel phones, computers or stress.. and quiet time with the hubby.  He works a lot so that I have the privilege to stay home so I am most excited about having him around to enjoy...

I always find I come back refreshed and with a regained sense of how important living and appreciating being in the moment is.

As for everything else... I have had a VERY rough two weeks... Sicker than sick...and as a result feeling a bit punky.  I always feel as if my meds don't really work when I'm sick... not sure if anyone else feels like this... I know it will pass though but I sure wish it would hurry up...

With the price of gas these days  I saw a thing on TV that people are doing "staycations".
Spending time in their cities, siteseeing, or going to the beach, or lake:) Going to local parks and stuff.  I think everyone should take some time off, even if its around the home, spend time in the garden, have something to drink(water, pop, whatever it is) put some paper umbrellas in and turn off the cellphones and computers for a few days. I was gone for a week, at that was just in Minnesota, but I feel so much better, i'm still in vacation mode, trying to stay there for a bit longer. I went swimming in the neighbours pool today, and that felt like a vacation all over for me, just to float around, was fun. Doesnt have to be somewhere fancy, on a plane or some strange place.

I actually had the chance of a free holiday and had to reject it.   It was a few weeks ago when I started having quite bad breathing problems due to shallow breathing.

My family lives out in Spain, and I find it quite difficult to breathe in humidity and wasn't feeling very strong so I had to decline it.

I'm having a few 'staycations' at the moment.  Picnics, park walkings, etc.  There's only so much you can do in a major city, however.

Hello there Breanne , thanks for the reply . I fully intend to do most of what you said ( although they knocked down our cinema and are rebuilding atm) . I did go out last year but not that much as i git to be a workaholic . This year , nerves permitting im going to go out much more . I love a picnic and so do the kids . The beach is about a 20 minute walk , its by an old fashioned harbour and is very beautiful indeed . Only drawback its quite a peebly beach , kids dont mind so thats all that matters .

cornish-dee,

You are right, you are fortunate to live in a seaside town! Maybe you should plan day trip for yourself and your family. A day at the beach with a picnic, or a day out at the park and dinner and a movie would make for a wonderful mini holiday.

Like i said before we do live in a seaside town so we are lucky , but like most people take it for granted  .

JohnnyO,

Another great tip! Thanks for sharing!

This is also a great opportunity for those looking to expose themselves to large groups of people.

I find summer is the time for free outdoor music.  they set up stages and invite people just to hang around and listen.  this weekend is the jazz fest with two afternoons of free music.  There will be a Blues Festival with free music later in the summer.  The symphony sets up in the central harbour and thousands of people gather to listen.  On our national holiday,  there is a stage set up at the government buildings with a variety of genres.

I'm not much for going to bars,  spending exorbitant amounts at theatres or stadiums so I really look forward to  attendance at free music events.
