Getting easier...

Koneko way to go !! Thats great news . Looking forward to seeing your post that you had that lovely meal out . After all everyone needs a cuppa lol .

OK my news , last few days my appetite has finally returned . Yesterday was a big big test , i ate a packet of crisps and an apple with the skin . Now the apple was scary and i did feel like the skin was getting stuck but pushed through it and ate it all . I was so chuffed after . I was beginning to think that i would never again . ( i made sure i had a glass of water in case it did get stuck) .

Anyway , it sure sounds like you are getting there as well so well done

koneko,   It's great to hear that you've found a system that works for you.  Keep working at it, and keep a journal. This way you can come back and at your reasoning behind things at a later date.     Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator

Thank you Breanne :)

cornish-dee, great job!  It's very inspiring to hear that you were able to go out and eat something, we're hoping to go on my fiancee's days off this week to that sushi place like we had planned.

I was able to eat a chicken burger and fries last night no problem.  I baked some peanut butter cookies as well and have been able to nibble on these.  I found another thing that helps me out a lot is to reward myself when I'm able to eat something substantial.  I also try to eat "tough foods" using food that I really liked, so in a sense I'm helping to get over my hurdle this way too.  Usually what I'll have at the end of dinner as a little reward if I eat my food is a cup of tea, I love my tea at night so it's a real disappointment if I don't get to have it.

My fiancee has been very helpful as well, if I try a "new" food he'll buy me a little treat or a back massage ;)

It gets pretty frustrating at times when I want something but I get that mental block, I think it's going pretty well atm though and I know it will only get better.

Thanks for all the support :)

Koneko,

What exactly is it that makes you nervous about going out for dinner?

If you feel anxious about eating out, here are some questions that you may find helpful in challenging your anxious thoughts:
When you have an anxious thought, answer some of these 10 questions:

1. Is it "true"?
2. How do I know it’s true?
3. Is it 100% true? (remember something that is 75% or 99% true is
    not 100% true)
4. What's the evidence for it being true?
5. What’s the evidence against it being true?
6. Has it ever happened before?
7. What's different now?
8. If it were true, how bad would it really be?
9. What's the worst thing that could happen?
10. If the worst thing happened, how bad would it really be?

If you love sushi, and you have positive thoughts associated with eating sushi at a restaurant, try to focus on those positive thoughts and feelings.

Members, please feel free to add any tips or strategies you find helpful when trying to challenge your anxious thoughts.

Hope this helps you abit , goodluck to you as well

I'm doing alright thanks for asking :)

I still over analyze everything I eat but for the most part I can get it down without an issue, can't eat late at night though.  I haven't gone out for dinner yet, still makes me too nervous.  I suppose I will have to try somewhere down the line.  I also found that my allergies make it worse (I have two cats.)  Keeping the dust down has helped a lot.
