Common Phobias

Hi Corryn, I certainly share your frustration. I felt a true passion for teaching but as I made gestures to gain experience in that career, my social anxiety just flared that much stronger. Deep down, I am still desirous to practice but also have a heavy layer of trepadation after going through episodes of social anxiety directly related to classroom/co-teaching experiences.

This is most definately my prime problem. I have already had to give up one job (teaching adults) because of the panick attacks and insomnia I suffered before every lesson. I am now tryin go build myself up to having a day long interview for a college course (including an interview and presentation). Things that I have done in the past and havent really bothered me too much so Its very frustrating.

The most commonly reported fear leading to anxiety is social phobias. Those who experience social phobias have an incapacitating fear or social interactions. This fear is maximized in larger audiences, with authority figures or when meeting strangers. Common symptoms are: - Avoidance (or large groups, meeting new people, public speaking) - Increased heart rate when exposed to social situation - Excessive sweating - Increased shyness Please share your experiences or questions with us.
