I have had cyclical panic attacks. Onw will come and I will calm and then another and I will calm a little. This can go on for hours. And then I am just stil shaking and exhausted and I don't know what to do. Anyone else familiar with this.

I've had panic attacks that last from a couple minutes to over an hour. Its such a hard thing to go through and its never easy feeling that way. I usually take a 1mg or .5mg tab of Lorazepam during an attack. It can be very helpful.

Hi Maggie, My panic usually hits me as soon as I wake up and can last 10-30 mins. I too take Ativan but only 1 mg in the morning. I pop that little baby in as soon as I wake up to try and stop the anxiety in it's tracks. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. You don't say how long you have been on the Ativan but I can assure the tiredness and grogginess will go away. My routine is get up, take an Ativan, and get on to this site first thing every morning. After reading through the posts I usually play a few games till I feel calmer. For myself this really seems to work. Try to have a good day!!

My Panic attacks can last an hour but I had one a few months ago that lasted a full day and into the evening. That was one of the worst ever as I felt like I was dying and my heart rate would not slow down. Thank God I wasn't alone but with my Mom who rubbed my back and feet for me. It helped. My poor Mom is 81 and I'm 55. What I'll do without her I don't know. My husband is pretty useless when I'm having these and had his own issues with MS so I feel so alone ( no kids either). You have to put yourself in God's hands with this illness, as with any other.

Beserk777777, Please continue working through the program. Session 2 & 3 may be particularly helpful to you in this situation as they talk & teach you about anxious thoughts and how to challenge them. Danielle ____________________ The PC Support Team

The climax of my attacks typically last from 5-30 minutes but after a really bad attack the a few days ago I am living in constant anxiety. But I think it's more cause I'm anticipating an attack.

Wow, i had to respond to this ! Do you all realise how strong and fantastic you are !! When I used to have panic attacks they could last anything up to an hour, and I'd be wrapped up in a ball freaking out, or on the bed freaking out, there is absolutely no way I could have done any washing up, or taken myself home from work ! You are all amazing, and I'm not sure you even realise it !! Read back over the posts, and you can see such strength, its inspiring !

I've had from 10 minutes to hours straight of symptoms. It doesn't really subside until I talk out what my thoughts or situation were that may have triggered out loud. When I hear myself say them, my brain realizes its anxiety & I start to calm down.

I used to play computer games too. It helped quite a bit. Lately it's harder for me to get back into things and stay consistent with them. I need to add some pleasurable activities into my routine, and get out of my head and away from my worries. I recognize this and I will keep trying. Thank you SO much for taking the time to respond. You are all too kind.:)
