Hi Tinks

I find that taking things one day at a time and not focusing on long term, help. This is not to say you shouldn't have long term goals, you should. It is that focusing on short term will hep you achieve long term. Get through the day or the next few hours helps strengthen our commitment and we can gain confidence from our victories. At least it works for me. I am almost at my goal of 1 month (3 more days).

Good luck and stay strong. One step at a time,
High Tower

Welcome to both of you,

You will certainly find support on this site whatever your goal is. Once you reach that goal, you can always reevaluate it and make a  decision.

Good luck to both of you!

Hello and welcome,
I have had many day ones in my life and I know how difficult this is.  Six weeks is a good goal, however sometimes I find that thinking in terms of one day, is much less daunting and much easier to achieve.  There is certainly something to that one day at a time thing.
I too will try to do not drink along with you, today.  If I can get through today, who knows what I can achieve tomorrow.
Good luck to you, and you certainly have support here.

Hi everyone, this is day one for me, I have a never done anything like this before. My story, I am recently married and have a new baby. I have always drank more than some people, but it never seemed to be an issue. Then this year with the stress of my marriage I began drinking alone sneaking drinks from a bottle of Vodka hidden in the garage. It has gotten totally out of hand, I drink about a 1/2 pint to a pint a day sometimes. When I am with friends or family I can control my drinking, but I just can't seem to stop guzzling of the hidden vodka. I need help in stopping this. My goal would be to at least stop drinking altogether for 6 weeks, then limit myself to to 1 or two glassed of wine or beer on the weekend, or date night with my wife. I don't know if that is possible though.
Hope this program helps me :-(
